“They killed me, but I survived.”
Three years after Rory Riordan foiled her own murder, she still trusts no one. Not Dr. Z, the eccentric college professor who has taken her under his wing, not Benji, the endearing, attractive classmate who insists on following her around, and certainly not Cy, the beautifully dark and mysterious boy who sits on the first row in Dr. Z’s Astrobiology class and asks far too many questions.
When Rory witnesses Cy being abducted by soldiers in the middle of the night, she finds herself submersed in a world that holds even more secrets than she could imagine--even darker secrets than her own.

This is the first book I read of Jamie McGuire from the Paranormal genre. It was good. I liked it. The plot was entertaining, though it was predictable. The characters were believable and very likable. And the end of the book was very, very unexpected, and I loved the end.
i had different kind of feelings while reading this book, I was annoyed, frustrated, excited, anxious, nervous, terrified, devastated and relieved. At first, when I was getting to know Rory, I thought she was annoying. She was using her past to be mean to other people. She was using her past to behave like a spoiled child. She was using her past to hide from everyone. But then I understood that she was using her past to protect herself from getting hurt again, even though she kept saying she couldn’t be hurt by anyone. Then, I started liking her. Despite the fact of being so closed up and stubborn, she accepted the friendship of Benji and she agreed to work with Cy. They both get into her heart, crashing her walls down and showing her the meaning of living again.
I liked Rory and Benji’s friendship. She tried so hard to keep him in line, but he never gave up on her or their friendship. They had some misunderstandings, and in spite of those, she always believed in him. I also liked Rory’s friendship with Cy. He was a big mystery half of the book, it was hard to understand his draw toward Rory, but he was protective of her, and I appreciated that as much as Rory did. The twist of events in this book regarding them both, Benji and Cy, was very fascinating. She needed them both to find her path to live again.
Dr. Z was a dear character for me. He was like a father to Rory. He helped her, he understood her and mosr of all, he cared for her.
The Scy-fi element in this book was well developed. The description of the action scenes were very clear to me and I totally felt like watching a movie in my head.
