Blia’s review: 5 stars
I had the opportunity of reading Beneath Your Layers by Christina Lee, a short story from When We Met and love every minute of it. It’s not because Christina Lee is a favorite author of mine and I’m being biased but it’s something about the stories and characters she writes that I feel such a deep connection with.
Take Chloe and Blake for instance. These two were not keen of one another and my immediate reaction is how is Christina going to make these two characters fall in love? Because this is after all, a short story but she did just that and then some! You know the game Truth or Dare? I believe Christina has taken this game to a whole new level of sexiness.
Now onto my review.
Chloe and Blake’s story has a unique edge to it. What I mean is it feels realistic. They weren’t looking for love. Heck, they weren’t even each other’s #1 fan. But after being forced to work on a project together, they start seeing past the judgement they’d assumed on each other and called it a truce with a game of truth or dare. Once that barrier was broken the sexy, flirty banter that volleyed back and forth between them were a sight to be seen and felt.
I hope that Christina will surprise us with more of Chloe and Blake’s story. I love to see how their story plays out after they became a couple because how they came to be made me fall in love with their story.
