ASHLEY’S BOOK REVIEW: Dirty Rowdy Thing (Wild Seasons #2) by Christina Lauren

From the New York Times bestselling author of Beautiful Bastard, Beautiful Stranger, and Beautiful Player, Book Two of the brand-new Wild Seasons series that started with Sweet Filthy Boy—a story of friends, love, and lust.

Despite their rowdy hookups, Harlow and Finn don’t even like each other…which would explain why their marriage lasted only twelve hours. He needs to be in charge and takes whatever he wants. She lives by the Want-something-done? Do-it-yourself mantra. Maybe she’s too similar to the rugged fisherman—or just what he needs.

BOOK REVIEW: 5 Dirty Rowdy Stars!!

Every once in awhile, there’s an author and/or authors that come along and make you fall in love with every word they write. Their writing completely consumes your world. They leave you craving for more of their brilliance. They make you drop everything when one of their books is released. Christina Lauren is that author for me!

Finn and Harlow have these misconceptions about each other. Finn thinks Harlow is a “girly girl” that only cares about the next pair of shoes she’s going to buy and Harlow thinks Finn has his life made with his family fishing business and is an A**hole with a capital A. They both couldn’t be FARTHER from the truth. We learn that Harlow is the “life of the party”, can be a bit loud, a dedicate friend, a “fixer”, and a family person through and through. Then we learn that Finn is considered “contained/closed off” and quiet, a dependable friend, and loyal to his family to no end. What’s that saying, opposites attract? They have characteristics that are similar, but yet their personalities are different. Can they “complement” each other and make a relationship work?

They both have a secret that is tearing their personal worlds apart…can they come together to save each other? Or are they just using each other for distractions? “What I want with Finn is the sex that absorbs me and shuts off my brain.” (Harlow). They both have something they want to forget in their lives, but they can’t….the only thing that seems to help to make them forget is getting lost in each other.

I loved that we got dual POV’s in DRT. That way us readers got to see “behind the scenes” and learn firsthand what drives these two characters to do the things they do. “We will either end up fighting or f*cking, and Finn does neither with any sort of tenderness.” The sex scenes were DEFINITELY DIRTY & ROWDY! “You want me just a little rough?” he asks, hands shaking where he cups my face. “Or you want me f*cking wild?”(Finn) “Wild. (Harlow). “Finnegan” as Harlow calls him once in awhile, certainly has a little kink in his repertoire…let’s just saw fishing for a living sure has taught him how to handle a rope ;) “I want to be messy, rough, a little dirty, a little taboo. I want to claim Harlow everywhere, try anything she wants, and see the mark of rope and teeth and my spankings on her skin.” (Finn)

Everything about this book was AMAZEBALLS! It had it’s sweet moments, it had it’s sad moments, and it had it’s LOL moments! I loved being able to see more of Finn and Harlow, Ansel and Mia, Oliver and Lola again and meeting some new characters! CANNOT WAIT for Oliver and Lola’s story!

BOOK & AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: Dirty Rowdy Thing (Wild Seasons #2) by Christina Lauren

It never gets old to say that I LOVE CHRISTINA LAUREN’S BOOKS! They both are genious! Thank Jesus for bringing them together to write the best books in the world! The new book of the Wild Seasons Series is awesome. Sorry Ansel, I love you but Finn, Oh. My. God. Finn. Finn is amazing! And he has one particular taste that drives me crazy! *fan self* Did I just say I L.O.V.E. Finn? No? OK, here I go: I L.O.V.E Finn!! He’s awesome. He’s quiet but he has these very skilled hands *smirk* that did exactly what his words didn’t do.

“He is hard to read, easy to look at, and no matter how bad an idea it may be, it’s nearly impossible to resist pulling him closer”

Finn and Harlow’s story started where Ansel and Mia’s did too: In Vegas, baby! But it had a very different path. Unlike Ansel and Mia, Finn and Harlow got divorced the morning after the matrimonial trio. Afterwards, Harlow decided to go to Canada to repeat with Finn (I’d have done the same), and it was even better than she remembered. But….. the sex was the only thing good about them together.

“We will either end up fighting or fucking, and Finn does neither with any sort of tenderness”

And then, a few months later, they are reunited, because of destiny, or because their best friends got married and now they have to see each other even if they want it or not. That’s where everything starts. I love that their chemistry in bed is undeniable, and when Finn brings his “things” to bed, or to the couch… everything got better and better.

I love how their relationship was growing with every day they spent together. It wasn’t the love at first sight kind of love. They get to know each other, they started to trust in each other, sort of, and they fell in love with each other, so hard, so badly that i was suffering when the drama happened. Because yes, Christina Lauren always add drama to their books! Thank God it was only the perfect amount of drama.

I loved everything in this book. I wouldn’t change it a bit. I loved Harlow! She’s smart, she’s funny, she’s very open minded, and I love how she always finds a way to help everyone. I loved Finn! God, he is so sexy! Despite him being so quiet and very private, he is very straightforward, especially in bed. I love it when he talked dirty to Harlow, it was extremely sexy! What I love the most about Finn and Harlow was how they took care of each other.

“I’ve never had a man other than my father take a protective stance around me”

It was great to know what was happening with Mia and Ansel’s marriage, there were some great news about them in the book. It was also great to get to know Lola and Oliver so much better. I’m pretty sure their book Dark Wild Night will be awesome.

And here is the song that makes me think about Finn and Harlow everytime I listen to it. Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheraan:

And I’m thinking ’bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Well, me—I fall in love with you every single day

Sebastian, Sebastian, Sebastian! Oh. My. God. Sebastian. He is so perfect for Finn. His deep and sexy voice goes perfect for Finn’s personality. The exclusive prologue in the audiobook was so much fun! It totally makes me think about how their relationship will be in the future. Shayna Thibodeaux is now one of my fav female narrators. She did an amazing job with Harlow’s voice. Sebastian and Shayna were interviewed by Christina and Lauren and it was so awesome to listen to them out of their characters. Shayna is so cool, I liked her answers so much. Sebastian was amazing, he even remembered other characters he did in the past for Christina Lauren’s books. I was fangirling as much as CL were during the interview.

BOOK REVIEW: Maybe Not: A Novella by Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe Someday, brilliantly brings to life the story of the wonderfully hilarious and charismatic Warren in a new novella, Maybe Not.

When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change.

Or maybe not.

Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.

Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love?

Maybe not

Thank you so much Colleen Hoover for writing this novella. Last week, when I saw the announcement of Maybe Not I said, I HAVE TO READ IT AS SOON AS IT IS PUBLISHED!! I didn’t care about the schedule for the blog or anything, I had to read it because it was a spin off of Maybe Someday, book that I love so freaking much, and because it was about Warren and Bridgette. So i squeezed my schedule and read Maybe Not in 2 nights. I LOVED IT! It was funny, sexy and the best part is that IT IS DRAMA FREE!! Being inside Warren’s head was very interesting. From Sidney and Ridge’s POV, he was the very cool best friend and roommate, very funny, a real prankster and he was a P-O-R-N addict! HaHaHa yes, that was what i thought about him, until I read Maybe Not. Aside from all that, Warren is an amazing guy, he is very mature, yeah I never thought that, very cocky, so good in bed. Oh Yeah, the sex, it was pretty HOT.

There was something I particularly loved about Warren: he was very patient and so understanding with Bridgette. She wasn’t the nicest person in the world, always so moody and rude to people, but Warren saw something in her. Of course it all began as a physical attraction, but it transformed into something else, something deeper, something beautiful.

I really enjoyed the moments they shared together, even the mornings when Warren said: “Hi Bridgette” and she only replied, “Screw you Warren” and he knew it was her unusual way to say hello to him. I laughed so much with this book, specially when they go to Warren’s sister’s house. Bridgette was so cute and awesome there.

So bad it was just a novella. It was amazing but it was too short. Can I have more please?

My Review

1530578_757139390966331_297148705_nColleen Hoover’s love for writing began in 1985 when she was five years old. Her first story was titled “Mystery Bob” and was a huge hit with her mother, who was really good at faking interest.

Colleen continued to write short stories for friends and family until December of 2011, when she decided to write a long story she titled, “Slammed.” She self-published SLAMMED to Amazon in January, 2012 and it hit the NYT’s bestsellers list in May, 2012. She has since signed with Atria Books, a division of Simon & Schuster, and now has six NYT’s bestsellers. Colleen prefers to be called a writer, as the term “author” still terrifies her and makes this feel like a job with expectations. She doesn’t work well under pressure and hopes writing will always remain fun and exciting.
Colleen’s newest novel, UGLY LOVE, releases August 5th, 2014. She is currently working on a new novel, CONFESS, which she is writing as fast as she can before she wakes up from this crazy dream.

You can follow Colleen on Instagram and Twitter @colleenhoover. You can also find her on her blog at where she holds a daily book-a-day giveaway, or on her very active Facebook page at where she loves to give away more free stuff when her husband isn’t looking.

Colleen also wants the world to know that writing short biographies in third person is incredibly awkward.

COVER REVEAL: Behind Your Back (Behind Your Back #1) by Chelsea M. Cameron

This past summer I traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland for a book signing. It was my first trip outside of the US and I was nervous as hell. While I was on the plane and begging for my motion sickness medication to kick in, I started thinking about a character I didn’t “know” yet. Every now and then I will get a character’s voice in my head and not have a story for them. More often than not, my books start with just one character. I don’t know where the story is going, or what they’re going to do. I only have their voice guiding me. I told myself I wasn’t going to work on anything new on my trip, since I already had existing deadlines. But of course the voice ignored me. He kept talking to me. I couldn’t resist, so I started working on his story in my gorgeous hotel room with its view of Edinburgh castle. I wrote some more words at the Elephant House, which is where J. K. Rowling started writing the first Harry Potter book. Over vegetable lasagna and jasmine tea, a story started to develop. It was different than anything I’d ever written. Told completely from a male point of view. It was also a romantic suspense, something I’d been dying to try writing, but didn’t think I had the ability to do. I called my mother in my excitement and her words were “that’s completely different than anything you’ve ever written.” This is that story. And since this story is so completely different, I’m doing something different when I release it. In February (date to be determined), you will not only get the first book on that day, Behind Your Back, you will also be able to buy the sequel, Back To Back! No weeks or months of waiting to find out what happens. You can read the two books in one day if you want. Instant gratification. I hope you fall in love with these books as much as I have while writing them.

She wears a wig and colored contacts the first time I see her in person. Her electric green eyes are too memorable, even in a crowd. But underneath the plain brown wig and the brown contacts and the bored expression she wears, something shines through that she can’t cover up.

I recognize it right away, even if I wouldn’t have been searching for her. Raising myself from my chair, I cross the coffee shop. She watches her phone, pretending to be the kind of girl who can’t abandon her Facebook page for longer than three seconds. But I know. I know her.

Her finger hovers over the screen of the phone, her shoulders slump, but her foot jiggles just a little bit. Not enough for anyone but me to notice. But I see it. I see her.

I pass by her table on my way out the door. I give her one glance. A visual brush over her body. I know she sees me, but pretends not to. She pushes the wig back and I can just barely see the flash of red hair at the nape of her neck, along with a tattoo. I can’t see all of it, but I don’t need to. I know that, too.

A Celtic knot.

I pass through the door and don’t look back. Her eyes follow me down the street to the crosswalk and until I’m out of view.

She sees me.

Sometimes we make decisions and have to live with the consequences.

Fun Facts about HEART

By Nicola Hudson

- When I started to plan Heart, I knew I didn’t want to write about Neve and Jake falling in love. That’s the easy part – dealing with the end of a relationship is much more traumatic!  This is where the tagline sometimes it doesn’t end with happy ever after

- When I wrote Curve, I didn’t think that I would be writing a second novel, let alone using some of the same characters. However, by the time Curve was finished, I already had the title Heart and knew it would be Neve’s story.

- I didn’t really like Neve when I started to write her in Curve! But that changed as she supported Cass and I saw what a wonderful friend she was.

- Like Neve, I went to university in Brighton and loved sitting by the sea, especially on a wintry, windswept day.

- I took the photo on the back cover – on yet another wintry, windswept day at the beach.

- Without being too spoiler-y, the ending was very different in my plot outline. But then I reached a point where it felt like the planned ending was going to feel too contrived to be realistic – and a late night conversation with a blogger gave me the courage to change it.

- One of my wonderful friends, who is also a beta reader, let me go with her when she had a new tattoo. The scene where Neve gets her tattoo is a pretty faithful account of that afternoon; I even wrote it in a coffee shop close to the tattoo studio!

- The hospital scene was the hardest scene I’ve ever written. I’ve been in a similar situation to Neve and writing about it brought all of the emotions back to the surface.  I was drained and couldn’t revisit it for a few weeks.

- I found writing Heart much more difficult than Curve. I hit a metaphorical brick wall and was really struggling when I went to an author event in Edinburgh.  I asked every author I met for advice.  So I have Abbi Glines, Kirsty Moseley, Karina Halle and Natasha Boyd to thank as they gave me some really useful tips which got me back on track.

- Myrtle is a beautiful evergreen plant with white flowers that symbolizes love and immortality: which is why Jake uses it as a nickname for Neve.

As well as being a writer, I love reading and reading about reading. My taste goes from Shakespeare to John Green…and much of what lies between! Dickens, check. Austen, check. Atwood, check.

Over Christmas 2012, I discovered the joy of new adult fiction and, inspired by Colleen Hoover and Tammara Webber, I decided to try my hand at writing my own NA novel.

I love the friendliness of the Indie writer community and have been overwhelmed by the support of followers interested in my journey. Please feel free to monitor my publishing progress via my Facebook page, Twitter or blog :-)

My first novel, Curve, was released in October 2013. My second novel, Heart, is a standalone companion to Curve and will be released in November 2014.

BLOG TOUR: The Token 8: Kiki (The Token #8) by Marata Eros

One Promise.

Kandace “Kiki” King lives a dream life. Rising above the ashes of a neglected childhood, she’s graduated from a prestigious Seattle university to obtain her pre-law degree. Her best friend, Faren, has overcome tragedy and found her happily ever after.

Kiki’s not looking for love.

The Lie.

Love has other plans. After Thorn’s revelation about the ties of their past, Kiki feels as though she’s been set adrift. When Mick McKenna’s billionaire friend shows interest, she dismisses him. Her exotic dancing paid for her lifestyle. What does Chet Sinclair know about sacrifice and hard work?

A Truth.

Until they discover a similar appetite. For the first time in her life, Kiki feels helpless against the pull of a sexuality she doesn’t understand, couldn’t anticipate, yet hungers for. Will she allow herself to succumb to what Chet Sinclair offers?

Or is the oath she made to herself in danger of being broken?

Quote: I’ve seen a thousand tears and wiped away none.

His studies my expression and laughs. “What?”

“She has been punished.”

There is no one around to hear what I say. My staff understands discretion on an intimate level, but Mick’s voice goes low regardless.

“God,” Mick plows his hand through his hair, “are you still doing the ka-ching!” Mick pantomimes snapping a whip.

“I don’t use whips, though it’s an excellent suggestion. Not that I need any help in the creative parts.”

Mick grunts. “I am not discussing your sex life.”

I raise an eyebrow. “Really?”

“Can’t you just fuck normally?”

“That’s discussing it.”

Mick stomps away, jamming his helmet back on his head. “I don’t want Kiki messed with.”

I follow him like a prowling cat. “I am not messing with Kandace.”

Our gazes lock.

“That’s what scars the shit out of me. I know how serious your are, driven. You get your sights on something and watch out.”

I cross my arms, the leather of my jacket making a crinkling sound. “True. So why do I feel like you’re cautioning me.”

“Oh please. That thug?”

Mick leans forward, dangerously close to putting a finger in my chest.

Neither one of us want that. It cannot end well. We’re almost like siblings, Mick and I. And we can sometimes fight like them too.

“Thorn is not a thug, he’s a cop.”

I shrug and he frowns, going on. “And, you’re the one who got into it with him at the Black Rose last year. Amazing Kiki will date you.”

“I wouldn’t call it dating.”

“Fuck,” Mick says in dismay, his hands clenching into fists.

“That is more like it.”

“Oh my God. Don’t tell me you’re boning my wife’s best friend. It will so have my ass in the dog house if you use Kiki.” His eyes search my face. “Screw over Chloe—now that bitch? She’s deserving.”

I smirk, throwing up my palms in an inoffensive truce gesture. “She has already received much of what she deserves.”

Mick holds up a palm. “Don’t. God, just don’t tell me man.”

“Dating will come later. If I had to wait one more minute, live through one more unanswered text where you denied me—I was going to cease to exist. I tried to be patient. In the end, you caused me to be what I am right now. A starving animal.”

I step closer.

“Maybe, once I’ve fucked you every day for a month—we can see a movie.”

Kandace shivers.

I step nearer still.

Her knuckles turn white from the death grip she keeps on the countertop.

“But right now, I want to know your body. Need to.”

“Well—that’s great, Chet. Maybe I want to know more.”

I grin suddenly.

“You will.”
