From the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Driven series.

One Night. That's all it was supposed to be.

Reeling from the sudden loss of her sister, Haddie Montgomery has sworn off relationships. All she wanted from Beckett Daniels was a sexy distraction to help her escape her pain for just a little while....There weren’t supposed to be any strings attached—so why can’t she shake the memory of that unforgettable night from her thoughts? Or the taste of his kiss from her lips?

No matter how hard Haddie tries to forget about him, Becks relentlessly tries to prove that she should start living for today. But she is determined to avoid romantic commitment, and she can always use her ex-boyfriend’s reappearance to help snuff out the slow burn within her that Becks has sparked....

Or will fate force her to realize that this kind of connection doesn’t come along very often and a chance at love is worth the risk?

VIVIAN’S REVIEW

When Kristy Bromberg (aka K.Bromberg) announced to her fans that she was going to be writing Haddie and Beckett’s story….I was OVER THE MOON EXCITED!!! I am a complete sucker for secondary characters getting their own stories! I jump at any opportunity to read more about the characters I grew to love. I mean if an author is talented enough to make us fall in love with secondary characters, while we are falling in love with the main characters that is saying something, right?!? I didn’t even question if I “wanted” to read Slow Burn when it came out…no…the only thought I had was, “I NEEDED to read it!”

In Kristy’s hit series: the Driven trilogy, the story is focused on Colton and Rylee, but in the background there is this sweet city girl (best friends with Rylee), Haddie Montgomery and this board shorts wearing country boy, Beckett Daniels (best friends with Colton). Haddie and Beck’s just have this obvious click when they meet for the first time in the Driven trilogy. Yes, it is the clichéd “best friends of best friends” kind of thing, but you learn in Slow Burn that it is SO MUCH MORE than that…it’s all about the click! 😉

Slow Burn makes you reevaluate your life and how you’ve lived it. Have you spent all your limited time on this earth with the people you love and doing the things you love? Or have you wasted it on meaningless things and people?

“Time is precious, Daniels. Waste it wisely” –Haddie

This book makes you want to live your life at the end of your comfort zone.

Slow Burn has it all! Tears and laughter. Heartbreak and joy. Loss and love. Hearts and heels 😉 This book exceeded any expectations I may have had and slowly burned my heart from the inside out (this is a very GOOD thing). Beck’s is another swoon worthy character by Kristy, to be added to my top book boyfriend’s list right next to Colton (from the Driven trilogy). He is the perfect southern gentlemen. And then there’s sweet Haddie (as Beck’s like to call her). If I had a book girlfriend list, Haddie would most definitely be on it. She is one of the most courageous and most spirited female heroine’s I’ve ever read. Her inner strength and determination is awe inspiring and has no bounds. She is an inspiration to all women alike.

Kristy’s writing is flawless! Her ability to write in dual POV is amazing! And the banter between Beckett and Colton…LOVED IT! #bromance at its finest 😉 There was HILARIOUS one liners in that had me busting a gut! And then on the flip side, there was somber scenes that brought me back down to earth and had me crying :’( Kristy definitely knows how to pull on the heartstrings in every aspect.

I would recommend this book to ANY and ALL of my book besties. To anyone that is looking for a story that has more depth and meaning than a lot of the books out there today. Kristy knows how to develop a story line and completely absorb you in her writing. I would say Kristy, in herself, is an inspiration to other authors out there! I cannot wait to read more books from her!

“You know what they say about playing with fire, right?” –Haddie

Slow Burn can be read as a stand-alone. It is a spinoff of the Driven series. I, for one, would recommend reading you read the Driven series first!!

CLAUDIA’S REVIEW

As a huge fan of the Driven Trilogy (Specially Colton) I had a huge expectation for this book, I wanted to know more about this amazing guy Becks (He and Colton are hilarious) and Haddie who is the best friend all girl wants to have.

Kristy is one of my top favorites authors, I will read all of her books no matter what, she’s the kind of author that makes you feel the story, makes all your emotions arise and you end on a rollercoaster that you won’t want to get off. She’s a genius, perfect writing (I love her writing style), amazing character development, great emotional storyline, sexy and steamy sex scenes, Slow Burn is all what I was expecting from Kristy.

When I read Driven series I knew these two guys will end together, remember that trip to Las Vegas, anyway Slow Burn has it all. You go from joy, laughter, sorrow, grieve, laughter, joy and happiness all the way….

I love the way Kristy brings the cancer topic, a heartbreaking matter that many of us have experienced, in my case, I experienced it with my mom and I completely understand Haddie’s struggle and how she tried to avoid the pain of the people she loves, I’d have done the same, so she’s my hero now. But it was not her decision to make and she finally learnt that.

“I don’t care how hard you push me, Montgomery. I’m not going anywhere.” Becks

We also learned that we can’t have anything for granted, we have to live our life day by day and be grateful of what we have.

“Time is precious. Waste it wisely” Haddie

Slow Burn is kinda bittersweet story, it’s about how to embrace life no matter how hard it can be, I can’t tell how many times I laughed out loud, and even more how many I broke down and cried so I recommend this book 100%. Sometimes we just need a wake up call and figure out that life is beautiful as it is, and no matter how hard it gets we have to fight for it.

Becks and Haddie had their perfect HEA although I can’t get enough of them and I wish it’d have been a little longer.

“We are, Haddie. You’d best get used to that.” Becks
