Is it possible to expose Chicago’s hottest player—without getting played?

This is the story I've been waiting for all my life, and its name is Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint. Don’t be fooled by that last name though. There’s nothing holy about the man except the hell his parties raise. The hottest entrepreneur Chicago has ever known, he’s a man’s man with too much money to spend and too many women vying for his attention.

Mysterious. Privileged. Legendary. His entire life he’s been surrounded by the press as they dig for tidbits to see if his fairytale life is for real or all mirrors and social media lies. Since he hit the scene, his secrets have been his and his alone to keep. And that’s where I come in.

Assigned to investigate Saint and reveal his elusive personality, I’m determined to make him the story that will change my career.

But I never imagined he would change my life. Bit by bit, I start to wonder if I'm the one discovering him...or if he's uncovering me.

What happens when the man they call Saint, makes you want to sin?

Hello Katy! Welcome to Collector of Book Boyfriends. We all love you here *fangirling* and it’s an honor to have you here with us! Thank you for taking the time away from writing and life to  answer some of our questions:

Hey Angy and everyone! Thank you SO much for having me over, I’m thrilled to be here with you.

Let’s discuss your latest project MANWHORE! More specifically, let’s talk about a certain Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint! Boy that is a mouth full! LOL. So how did this hurricane of a man with SO MANY names come to you? Was he an easy character to write about or was he as much of a mystery to you as he seems to be to everyone else?

Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint is definitely a mouthful and also, a handful! :)

Saint was definitely a mystery that slowly began to unravel as Rachel and I got to know him. To me, meeting and getting to know the hero are one of the most exciting parts in a romance. No one person is ever revealed right away. We all show parts of ourselves depending the circumstances and it’s when those parts are enough that you get a clear picture of the whole that you get slammed with the realization that this person – once a stranger – is now the reason you live for. I love watching this happen.

Between all the characters you’ve written, which character would you say you identify with the most and why?

I think they all have little pieces of me in a way, especially my heroines, who are usually my main narrators.

We’ve seen you post some of your inspirations for your male characters on the REAL by Katy Evans Facebook fan page. We LOVE that you do this BTW because we’re the type of fans that like to see authors muses and let us just say, your muses are…ahem…delectable 😉 So on the topic of muses, do you typically have a “vision” in mind of what “your men” look like and then look for images online or do you find images first and piece your characters together that way?

I usually begin with a clean slate, simply allowing the characters to come to me as they are. I always picture them so clearly that I can never find their twins in real-life.

Once I’ve got my characters down, though, I definitely start saving man eye-candy pictures that I see that remind me of them. I like sharing them on my Facebook and Twitter occasionally too. One can never see too many beautiful men!

Where do you find inspiration for your characters/books?

Inspiration is everywhere, the bad thing is that it’s never on schedule. I used to get a thousand and one ideas and because they all seemed so great, I could never develop a single one. Now, what I try to do is stay focused on my current project so that I don’t allow any tempting new ideas to tease me away from my baby. I stay loyal, completely devoted, and allow all my thoughts to be directed towards it. But the moment I’m done, I’m open to life, songs, books, television, friends, long walks, long drives, and usually in those moments, while I’m open and welcoming and most receptive, is when the best ideas come.

We follow your playlists and listen to them all the time! We feel like we are able to “connect” with your characters on a “deeper” level. Do you always write to music? Does it help you “get into” your characters heads?

I’m super happy to hear that you enjoy the playlist the way I do. I definitely always write to music. I also always have a different playlist for each book. These are songs that somehow resonate with the story and the characters and it helps me connect with them so much that when I hear the songs elsewhere, I instantly feel them close.

Which one of your female characters is your favorite and why?

I relate extremely well to all my heroines. I love them all, dearly and deeply, and I can easily step into each of their shoes and feel exactly like they do, and understand why, exactly, they think the way they do. But usually the one I most relate to is the one I’m currently working on. When I step into her shoes, I’m absorbed by her for the duration of the story, and I can always find a thousand things in her that I feel connected to. So for now, I’ll go with Rachel from Manwhore and Manwhore +1. She’s a writer, too (well, a journalist) and she has so many qualities that I love.

Because you are the creator of our beloved Remy, we have to talk about him too! What kind of research did you have to do to write such a heart broken and roller coaster story like REAL?

Most of the research I did for Real came from real-life experience. I did read up on the latest research on Mental Health, however it’s a topic I’ve been personally closely related to as well, so a lot of Remy came from him (and what I perceived from his character) and from life, rather than books.

Inquiring minds wants to know…can you give us any deets on REAL 6?!?

Real #6 is still in the early brainstorming stages, so unfortunately, I can’t share much. But, I’m excited to go back into my Real world and spend time with these characters whom I love so very very much, and I know you all do too. I so look forward to sharing more!

Just for fun! Which character of yours, if you HAD to choose, would you go on a date with and what would you do?

Well, since you said fun, and because my manwhore has somehow made me see that I’m almost as greedy as he is: I’d love to have two dates. One with all my girls. One with all my boys. I want to hear the men talk about the girls. And the girls talk about the men. I can’t think of something that would be more fun than that!

(Question from Vivian) Lastly, will you ever come to visit the cold state of Minnesota?!? I would LOVE to hear the voice behind all these characters I hold so closely to my heart.

Hey Vivian! I would love to meet you in person. So far, I only have 1 signing scheduled this year, in LAS VEGAS on July 17th. However I love traveling to new places and will add Minnesota to the top of my list! :)

Thank you so much again for having us. And thank you for your open honesty in answering any questions readers ask you on twitter and Facebook.

Thank you so much for having me over, I really hope I get to meet you in person one day. I really treasure when readers reach out and try to respond as much as I can, and now I can’t wait to hear what you and readers think of Saint next.
