The New York Times bestselling author of Slow Burn turns up the heat when a sexy bet turns into so much more…
Hawkin Play, the bad boy rock star with a good guy heart, has lived a lifetime of cleaning up after his twin brother’s mistakes. Hunter’s most recent screw-up could land Hawke in jail and risk the band’s future. Hawke agrees to guest lecture at a local college to stay in the judge’s good graces—and a bet with his bandmate to seduce his sexy teaching assistant is icing on the cake.
Quinlan Westin is harder to bed than Hawke imagined. She knows his type and is determined to avoid the rocker at all costs—even if their attraction runs deeper than simple lust.
Just as Hawke might finally be winning over the girl, his brother has other plans. When Hunter realizes his twin finally has a weakness, he’ll stop at nothing to take advantage…

~Vivian’s review~
Kristy Bromberg has done it AGAIN!!! She has made me fall like the rain in love with yet ANOTHER of her men, Hawkin Play. First, there was Colton Donavan…who taught me that super heroes are indeed real and to never stop believing in them. Colton and Rylee’s story is the reason Kristy is a top favorite author of mine (and continues to be!). Driven, Fueled, Crashed, and Raced set the bar high and I thought it’d be nearly impossible for Kristy to create another lead man/couple that I could love as fiercely. But then she wrote Slow Burn (Driven #5), which is Beckett & Haddie’s story (secondary characters from the Driven series)! She lit that match and created a slow burn in me that gradually made me fall in love with them and taught me a life lesson…”time is precious, waste it wisely”. But now…NOW…Kristy’s played me like a guitar and I had no way of NOT falling in love with Hawkin (much like Quinlan).
“The contradiction he presents, the smooth with the rough, is the one thing that I always fall for when it comes to men.” –Quinlan.
Me too Quinlan, me too! *wink*.
This book helped me fall back in love with reading romance <3 Everything from the catchy one liners
“C’mon, you know you want to be the star to my burst.” –Hawkin. “More like the fruit to your loop.” –Quinlan)*lmao*
to the emotional heart string pulling plot of Hawkin’s personal life (I will admit, I sobbed at certain parts of this book bc the heartbreak was so evident within Hawkin’s thoughts, actions and words). That is a true testament to an author’s ability if they can have a reader busting a gut one minute then turning into a blubbering mess the next. Kristy is that type of amazing author!
Hawkin & Quinlan: I loved how Hawkin and Quinlan didn’t always communicate with words. They seemed to have their own exclusive language that they spoke to each other through looks exchanged and body language. Verbal cues were not always required in their communication with each other. They made their own “music” without words. It was out of tune, the wrong cords were played, and the rhythm was off beat at times, but in the end they made one hell of a beautiful song <3
“Love is nothing more than a meaningless word in a lyric until someone comes along and makes the music to bring it to life…and sweetness, you’re helping me make music for it, one instrument at a time.” –Hawkin.
Speaking of instruments, I can’t forget to mention THAT SCENE (if you’ve read this book, you know which scene I am referring to)…the scene with which a certain instrument/instrumental device was used. THAT SCENE like a broken record will forever be stuck on repeat in my mind. A new fav scene of mine *wink*.
Oh and I can’t forget to mention that there may or may not be some surprise appearances of some other beloved rockers from other series…like ahem maybe, Kellan Kyle and the D-Bags *wink*. (and some other rockers, but I don’t want to give spoilers so I won’t mention them by name). And Colton and Rylee (from the Driven series) make some appearances as well!! *happy dance* I LOVE to see little glimpses of how much Colton’s character has grown since the beginning of the Driven series. It is apparent that he is such an amazing big brother to Quinlan in this book. <3
I cannot express in words fully how much I loved this book! It is like taking a picture. The photo never does it justice…you just have to read it to experience it in its entirety for yourself to understand what an amazing author Kristy Bromberg is. I have a new book boyfriend to add to my list <3
“Rocker trumps racer every time. Hands down.” –Hawkin.
Rocker trumps racer…not every time for me…but this time it does. Sorry Colton <3
5 rocker trumps racer stars!
