Come forth with an open mind, for an unconventional tale of love..

Dublin native Freda Wilson considers herself to be an acquired taste. She has a habit of making offensive jokes and speaking her mind too often. She doesn't have the best track record with first impressions, which is why she gets a surprise when her new neighbour Nicholas takes a shine to her.

Nicholas is darkly handsome, funny and magnetic, and Freda feels like her black and white existence is plunged into a rainbow of colour when she's around him. When he walks into a room he lights it up, with his quick wit and charisma. He is a travelling cabaret performer, but Freda doesn't know exactly what that entails until the curtains pull back on his opening night.

She is gob-smacked and entirely intrigued to see him take to the stage in drag. Later on, Nicholas asks her if she would like to become his show assistant. Excited by the idea, she jumps at the chance. Soon she finds herself immersed in a world of wigs, make-up and high heels, surrounded by pretty men and the temptation of falling for her incredibly beautiful employer.

In this story of passion and sexual discovery, Nicholas and Freda will contend with jealousy, emotional highs and lows, and the kind of love that only comes around once in a lifetime.

**Not suitable for younger readers. Contains some strong language and scenes of a sexual nature.**

review v2

When i read the blurb of this book i felt like my heart stopped. All i could say was: WOW am i really about to read THIS?! Never in a million years i thought i was ever gonna come across a plot like this one. Definitely romance with a difference but the difference was what made this read absolutely intriguing, passionate, sexy, funny and overwhelming. L.H. Cosway went automatically to the top of my favorite authors list. She has a mastermind!

”In time his habit would evolve into a need to entertain; a desire to express his fascination with the female form by impersonating it.”

…he is a travelling cabaret performer, but Freda doesn’t know exactly what that entails until the curtains pull back on his opening night. Nicholas was everything but your typical broken hero, yes Nicholas had a dark haunting past but the story goes beyond that aspect. Society’s accepted view of masculinity is not always right. Freda our heroine even tho she struggles with low self esteem she is very soulful and open minded. She doesn’t freak out when she first sees Nicholas on stage, she is honestly just amazed.

”He’s half boy, half girl. All gorgeous.”

Nicholas and Freda found each other at the perfect time. A time when they both needed to feel accepted, loved, supported, saved and healed. The book even tho has a mastermind plot, it reads on a light funny way. You can laugh, feel, feel very very aroused and fall in love with this book altogether. Is the perfect kind of mindfuck.

”I want to heal him with each and every one of our kisses. With every time we make love. Make him see that despite the past, the future holds mysteries that we can explore hand in hand.”

”Cross dressing is often related to sexual preference. I like to be a man in the bedroom, but a woman on the stage.” AND THAT IS NICHOLAS FOR YOU…BUT HE IS MINE.

I love this book. I adore this characters and i salute this story. L.H. Cosway i take my hat off to you. Painted Faces is an unforgettable story. This is my first book by this author and all i can assure you is that will read everything by this author. YOU NEED THIS BOOK IN YOUR LIFE!
