Stuck spending the summer with his screwed up family, Gabriel Walker is bored out of his mind and looking for an adventure. And he seems to find it with the hot girl who lives next door. The attraction between them is instant. Electric. Soon they’re spending every stolen minute together. Talk about the perfect summer fling…
Lucy isn’t what she seems. She doesn’t live next door—she’s the girl who’s been hired to house sit for the summer while the family goes on a worldwide vacation. If Gabe wants to believe she’s a spoiled rich girl looking for some fun, she can go along with that. After the summer, she’ll never see him again.
They don’t count on running into each other at college. Now Lucy must keep up the pretense of being a rich girl—and it’s exhausting. She knows she’s falling in love with Gabe and she’s scared he feels the same. Will he still care about her when he discovers the truth?
In the Dark, in Five Words
IN THE DARK is so many things. I could come up with an endless string of words to describe it, specifically the characters. So when I’m asked to narrow it down to only five words? Eeep, I’m anxious…but here I go!
IN THE DARK is…different. As in, it’s different from FAIR GAME. Shep and Jade were snappy and snarky and ridiculous. There’s some humor in IN THE DARK (Gabe is a bit ridiculous himself, much like Shep) but there’s also some serious subject matter thrown in there too.
IN THE DARK is…sexy. Of course, it’s sexy! I can’t not have the sexy. I love Gabe and Lucy as a couple. I think Gabe is adorably sexy. I hope readers will love him too.
IN THE DARK is…real. Well, more like Lucy is real. I gave her insecurities that I think a lot of women deal with. She’s uncomfortable in her own skin and Gabe does his best to reassure her that he likes her just the way she is. Don’t we all want to find a guy like that?
IN THE DARK is…a little bit angsty. It took a bit of a dark turn on me! I didn’t even mean for that to happen. And if you’ve read One Week Girlfriend, it’s not that dark but I tortured my couple for a bit. I’m mean like that.
Finally, IN THE DARK is…fun. It’s about being young and having friends. Meeting that certain someone who turns your life completely around. Becoming true to yourself. And trying your best to have a good time while you’re doing it. *wink*
