The New York Times bestselling author of Reaper’s Stand is back in her “uber-alpha rough world of MCs”* as one woman’s future is rocked by the man whose hardcore past could destroy her…

He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

This is my second Joanna’s book and I can tell that she’s making me love more and more Mc Bikers. Her bikers are tough ones, big and scary but with great hearts. They are a family, they care and protect each other and they love their “old ladies”.

Once they set their eyes on you, the battle is lost, they will claim you as their property, taking what is theirs, in that moment you belong to them.

So this is Painter’s story, it begins when Painter is about to leave jail after spend sometime there because of a club issue, he wants to get back to Coeur d’Alene where his club is located, to meet his brothers and get back to this sweet girl who writes letters every week…Melanie Tucker.

He knows he’s bad news for her, he knows she deserves better but he can’t stay away from here, the minute he met her, he knew he can’t get away from her.

I still wanted better for her. Someone nice, who’d work a steady job, maybe take her to Hawaii every other year. Wash her car on Saturday mornings. Unfortunately, every time I tried to picture that guy, he was dead at my feet.

Melanie Tucker had a rough life, she was abandoned by her mother, her dad was an alcoholic and she was “saved” by London, her best friend’s aunt. London is the Reapers president old lady, so she now is kinda involve in this world. When she met Painter she fell deeply. He was nice to her and she wanted to be with him. Jessica, her best friend and roommate, warned her about Painter that he is a manwhore and there is no way he will settle.

That Painter will always put his club first. And that this eventually will destroy her.

“I couldn’t afford to get used to having him around, or depend on him. It’s destroy me if – no, when – the next crisis hit.”

I love Melanie character she’s the responsible one, very focus on her future as a nurse, but she was so in love of Painter, she knows he is trouble but she can’t deny this chemistry between them. She is strong too and she will do what is best for her.

So Painter screwed things up and Melanie will have to decide what to do, this is not just about her, is about Izzy too, Can she forgive Painter and let him try to make things right?

“Are you ever going to forgive me?” he asked softly, catching my chin, forcing me to look at him. “Sometimes it feels like you hate me out of habit … Why does it always have to be a fight, Mel?”

Painter is really in love with Melanie, he made bad decisions but he’s willing to change and make things right. I love how Joanna make his character development. Painter realizes that all he wants is be with her and have a future with her.

I love how the story was told. The back in time,. The amazing epilogue, wow!!!

I highly recommend it. You don’t have to read the previous stories to read this one, I didn’t and I love it, but definitely I’ll try to catch up on Joanna’s books.
