After her music career crashes and burns spectacularly, Juliet Langley is forced to turn to the only other business she knows: food service. Unfortunately, bad luck strikes yet again when her two-timing fiancé robs her blind and runs off with her best waitress. Flushing what’s left of her beloved café down the toilet with her failed engagement, Juliet packs up and moves back to her college stomping grounds in Nashville to manage an old friend’s coffeehouse. At first glance, it seems as though nothing’s changed at Java Jive. What could possibly go wrong? Only that the place is hemorrhaging money, the staff is in open revolt, and Juliet finds one unlucky employee dead in the dumpster out back before her first day is even over.

The corpse just so happens to belong to the cook who’d locked horns with Juliet over the finer points of the health code. Unimpressed with her management style, the other disgruntled employees are only too eager to spill the beans about her fiery temper to the detective on the case. Add to the mix a hunky stranger who’s asking way too many questions, and suddenly Juliet finds herself in some very hot water. If she can’t simmer down and sleuth her way to the real killer, she’s going to get burned.

This is the first time I’ve read a book by this author. This gender is new to me too, besides Helen Fielding’s books I have not read comedy unless it has some erotica on it.

I have to say that I really enjoy this book, since I saw the refreshing cover with an interesting blurb, I decided to go for it, and I glad that I did.

The story is very well written and very entertaining. Great plot with a lot of mystery. It is very funny and has great characters.

There is a lovely lady with a smart mouth, a love triangle, a dead body, a coffee shop, hilarious situations that will make hard for you to put this book down.

Juliet Langley want a second chance to start over, she came back to her college town to manage the Java Jive coffee shop. On her very first day as the manager she found a dead body on the dumpster, so she got involved on a crime scene and she become one of the suspects.

I somehow can relate to Juliet, she’s on her thirties, she’s funny and she has her badass side too. It’s amazing how she manage to get involve in very hilarious situations that makes the book easy to read, it is fast paced and you want to know, as well as Juliet, who is the murderer.

Personally, I recommend this book to all of you. It is the right book if you want to make a parenthesis on reality and just lay down to enjoy and have fun with a redhead that only wants to not go to jail.

I look forward to reading the next installment when it comes out.
