Book Review: 5 stars
Denial is a Lisa Renee Jones book through and through. It has drama, suspense, romance, the best kind of sex scenes and of course, the ends with a huge cliffhanger! Yes, you read it right, a C-L-I-F-F-H-A-N-G-E-R!! I am usually annoyed about books with those kind of endings, but I was prepared for this one. I mean, Lisa’s series are always full of mystery and that means, the cliffhanger would be HUGE!! And guess what, it was bigger!
This book is a spin-off of the Inside Out series. What do you need to know about Ella from this series? Well, she’s Sarah’s best friend. She had a rich boyfriend who proposed in a rush, and instead of having a wedding, they decided to elope to Paris. That is the last Sarah knew about her bestie. Sarah tried to contact her, and when she went to Europe with Chris, she looked for her, but she didn’t have any lucky in the search. That was always a huge mystery from the Inside Out series, and now we “kinda” know what happened to Ella in her “dreamy” elope/honey moon/vacation with her rich boyfriend.
See the word “kinda”? Well, it’s usual to have LOTS OF QUESTIONS when reading a book by Lisa, and of course, Denial wasn’t going to be the exception. Ella wakes up with amnesia in a hospital in ROME! Yes, Rome! That goes the first question: Wasn’t she eloping to Paris? And she wasn’t alone in that hospital room. One handsome and mysterious man is there with her, claiming that he found her while she was being attacked in an alley, and he took her unconscious body to the hospital. And here goes the second question: Who is really Kayden? Because let’s be honest, one person can’t be that determined to HELP selflessly a complete stranger.
So that is what happened. Kayden offered to help Ella to get her memory back and find out who was trying to kill her and why. And in addition to all this, Ella and Kayden couldn’t keep their hands off each other. They had a passionate relationship, and that helped them both to trust each other, and when Ella was getting some flashbacks from her past, she freely shared them all with Kayden. He was really open to her as well, letting her in his life, his house, in his bed and also told her about his past.
Along the book, so many questions were forming, like: Who was the man she kept remembering, what happened to her former fiance, what the hell about the butterfly necklace. But none of them were answered in this book. I’m sure to get some answers in the next book but there will be more questions to add the this mystery of a series.
Great beginning of the series! Lisa created awesome characters in Ella and especially Kayden. I was madly drawn to his stern, possessive, protective and caring personality. I loved how he treated Ella, he was so serious all the time, but his playful moments stole not only Ella’s heart but also mine.
I can’t wait for the next book of the series. 6 months looks like a long time to wait. I need more Kayden, more Ella and I need answers, like NOW!
