**Read the book everyone’s talking about with this re-released, extended version of Beyond Eden—The original, darkly sexual love story that’ll leave you questioning everything you know about good and evil**
Three lifelong friends find themselves tangled in a web of love, pain and dangerous secrets in this erotic Garden of Eden tale.
Tall, dark and handsome Danny Carlow has always gotten whatever he wants except for the two he desires more than anything—his best friends, lovers Paul and Eve. Determined to claim what was never supposed to be his, Danny waits like a snake in the grass, poised for the right moment to offer them a temptation too delicious to resist.
Artist Eve Everton made the painful decision to leave her true love Paul for the siren call of New York City. Now ten years later, with her life in shambles, she returns. When Paul's waiting arms aren't available, Eve falls for Danny's charm and finds herself a willing accomplice in the dangerous games Danny plays.
Paul Mattling is a successful attorney with a bright future ahead of him, but behind those brilliant blue eyes are secret desires for a taste of the forbidden. Will he play it safe or give in to Danny and Eve and bite the apple?
Reader Advisory: Not for the faint of heart, the pain in this story is vivid and real, the emotions even more so. Haunting and poignant, Beyond Eden presents a darker side of BDSM. You might gasp. You might cry. You might find yourself reading it again and again.
5 stars
“Beyond Eden” is the story of Paul, Danny and Eve. They have been friends since childhood and secretly, everyone is in love with the other. After Eve’s failed attempt to build herself a life in New York, and she’s finally back in Florida, can these three finally sort their feelings for each other out?
Oh wow, what a whirlwind of a story. And I felt like in the end, I’ve fallen from a cliff with these characters – but didn’t even notice it at first. After Eve left for New York, the lines between Danny and Paul have blurred and their friendship became so much more. Now put there a third person – a very stubborn, eccentric Artist nonetheless – into the mix. Et voilà, we have a very emotional and hot mess.
I feel the need to throw in a little warning here. “Beyond Eden” contains many scenes with hardcore BDSM. And I do mean hardcore! Granted, it takes a lot to make me cringe while reading; dark books and hard sex scenes are my favorites. But some of the very explicit scenes in this book made me really cringe. There is everything from vanilla M/F to Edge-Play, precisely Blood-Play. Mind you, the scenes were written amazingly, I even enjoyed them. Oh yes, it really did a number on me, that they equally shocked and aroused me! LOL. And yes, “Beyond Eden” is very heavy on the M/M-sex.
But it wasn’t only the hot sex that convinced me that this was “smut for the smart”, it was the emotions that impressed me. There wasn’t much of a plot surrounding the MC’s, only the love-story between three emotionally damaged people. But for me, it was more than enough – I prefer the books that are only focused on the romance. I could really feel with the characters in this story, it made me laugh, cry, swoon and aroused me. And due to the uncommon constellation, I tried to guess the whole time, how “Beyond Eden” would play out in the end. But even though it was practically a strange kind of love-triangle, it wasn’t even all that angsty IMO.
As for the ending, I was satisfied with it. Yes, I had another preference for the ending, but that doesn’t matter, it was for the best like that. Don’t worry about my cryptic description, it does end happy – I just don’t want to spoiler it.
All in all, I rate “Beyond Eden” with 5 stars and can recommend it for everyone, who loves unconventional romance-books with a lot of BDSM, M/M and emotions.
