From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Breathless Trilogy comes the first novel in the Enforcers series—a bold new direction in erotic romance that explores the games men and women play, and the price they’re willing to pay for pleasure.

What he wants, he takes with no remorse or guilt.

She stood out in his club like a gem, unspoiled and untouched. A lamb among wolves, she clearly didn’t belong. Drawn to her innocence he watched as she was surrounded by men who saw what he did—but no one but him could touch her. He summoned her to his private quarters. He sensed her fear. He also recognized the desire in her eyes. And he knew she wouldn’t leave before he possessed her. She had no need to know his secrets. Not until he had her under his complete and utter control.

What he wants, she isn’t sure she can give him.

The moment he told her want he wanted, she couldn’t resist. Instinct told her to run, but her heart said stay and walk the fine line between pleasure and pain. Though she wasn’t sure she could ever completely surrender, the primal part of her wanted to try, even knowing this man could break her in ways she never imagined. Because once he possessed her, he owned her and it would be too late to turn back. She can only pray that he doesn’t destroy her in the end.

Book Review: 5 stars

About the book:

Drake Donovan is a man who seems to have it all and cares about nothing a no one. Handsome, strong and intimidating man desired by any woman that lays eyes on him, feared by men in his surroundings including his partners and associates. Nothing can push him off balance and make him lose control, nothing until sweet Evangeline comes into his life completely by accident but she is here to stay.

Evangeline is the sweet next door girl, blonde hair like the finest fields, blue eyes like the sky itself, innocence like no other, with honesty and kindness as her strength. She has Drake under her spell without knowing it, while Drake and his men very well see it and every single one of them falls for her charm and pure heart and soul and all of them will die if needed in order to keep her safe and protected.

What does she needs that much protection from? Whom are they all shielding her from?  Will Drake and Evangeline be able to survive all the secrets and mysterious behavior that keeps them on edge? Will fear overtake them? Or will love overcome all fears and lies?

My review:

WOW.JUST.WOW – My first reaction after finishing the book.

It started off a bit slow, it felt like teenage drama going on and I was wondering what this would turn out to be. And at some point in the book I almost lost interest and just when I was thinking about giving it up, my senses awaken again and pace was picked up.

It’s plot and the writing style is different from most of the books within the same genre I have read so far and I find that refreshing and satisfying. I really loved the mystery behind it, just when you think you’re on to something you realize you have no idea and have to keep reading and chase after the truth and conclusion.

I loved how Drake’s and Evangeline’s relationship went from lust at first sight to some deeper meaning that was so unknown for them both but so needed and welcomed. What brought a smile to my face was also how his men, his brothers, his friends that were assigned to protect Evangeline and act like her bodyguards developed their own relationships to her and were swept away just like Drake was. There was a beautiful and playful connection that was well needed to the story’s quality and made it so much sweeter and meaningful.

And of course I knew something had to happen to blow it all up like an atomic bomb. But I did NOT see this cliff coming!!! My chest was tightening, my heart was breaking, my soul was crying :( Trust was lost, dreams were crushed, and hopes were shattered! Blossoming love was broken into thousand pieces. I can’t wait for book 2 to see how this drama will be resolved.

WELL DONE, WELL DONE!!!!
