Dr. Phoenix Reid isn't who she seems...

Everyone knows a phoenix rises from the ashes. What they don't talk about are the people she drags with her into the fire.

I thought one hot night with Max Hallowell was harmless. I never expected it would force me to face my past or bring back the man who swore he'd never let me go. Now Max wants to help me. Wants to save me. But if I let him, he'll be destroyed. I can already smell the flames.

A woman with a secret past. A man determined to protect her. A dangerous passion that could cost them both everything.

About the book:

Nix is living in a small and safe town New Hope. She works there as a doctor and seems to have gotten the attention of one of her patients father. Max is the boy next door even literally in this book. He is sweet, protective, nice guy always around to help out or just be there for you.

He and Nix have one night or better said one moment of passion that has them both blown away. Max is ready and willing to take the next step, but Nix is going into hiding and draws herself away from him as much as she can.

She seems to be an ordinary woman on the outside. Her past had damaged her so much and is still hunting her days and nights. er past has and will hurt her present again and never allow her future to appear. Will she let her past dictate her life or will she fight it? Read this book to find out guys :)

My review:

This was a nice and easy read. The relationship between Nix and Max was so sweet and lovely. Those two made me fall in love with them big time, especially Max. He is THE dream man, sexy god that provides pleasure even with his words, kind man that gives time and space when needed. The man who will fight everything and everyone to protect those he loves.

Even side characters were so funny and amazing to read about. They were all connected in one way or another and it felt like “Friends” but even better then in that series. It wanted to be a part of that awesome group myself.

And the secrets, the mystery are dragging you deeper into the story for every chapter. This one was not easy to figure out in advance. I felt so sorry for poor Patrick and how his life was changed because of his own family. I felt sorry how that effected Nix and ruined her from enjoying life and not being able to be happy.

Overall a good and unpredictable story line, friends who stood by each other no matter what. Good fighting evil, love trying to scare away demons. It’s defiantly a good and pleasant book to read and explore all the emotions its offering.

Narrators Summer Roberts and Tyler Donne did a good job. Nice and easy on the ears. They really transformed the books layers into a real vivid story for me. They adapted characters nature and emotions like their own.
