"Some say the past is in the past. That vengeance will hurt both innocent and guilty. I never believed those lies. Once my lust for revenge is sated, I'll say goodbye to hatred. I'll find a new beginning."

SIN & SUFFER

She came from a past Arthur "Kill" Killian never forgot. She made him sin and made him suffer. She tugged him from the shadows and showed him he wasn't as dead as he thought. And with her resurrection came betrayal, deceit, and war.

But then they took her. Stole her. Imprisoned her.

Now Kill's carefully laid plans for vengeance are complete. He craves action, retribution-the blood of his enemies. War has begun. War is all they'll know until they've paid their penance. He will get her back-and rewrite their destiny . . .

review

Oh Pepper! * Waving my hands in the air * “I wish I knew how to quit you!”  That’s pretty much my reaction after finishing a Pepper Winters book. Seriously, if ever there was a book hangover inducing author, it would be her. So…where to begin with this review? Let’s start with some praise, shall we?

First, I will say that I’m a huge fan of Pepper Winters’ writing and an even bigger fan of her characters. Pepper always manages to make her male characters both beautifully flawed and tragically romantic. Which isn’t f*cking easy. If you’re into hulking sexy beasts of men that can one, rip somebody’s head off with their bare hands and then two, screw your brains out till next Tuesday then you’ll love her leading men. How does Pepper level the playing field by coupling these beasts with their perfect counterpart you ask? She does it perfectly. That’s how.

Sin&Suffer#1

So let’s talk Sin & Suffer. Sin & Suffer (S&S) (Pure Corruption MC #2) is the second book written about Arthur “Kill” Killian (Art) and Cleo Price (AKA Sarah Jones)—two characters I’ve grown to love. This book picks up right where Ruin & Rule (R&R)(Pure Corruption MC #1) left off (practically 6 months ago) without missing a beat. HEADS UP: if you haven’t read R&R you’d be missing too much story and too much plot to fully appreciate S&S. Unfortunately, There’s not much of a summary at the beginning of S&S to fill you in (or remind you, in my case) of  what’s already happened. Of course, that doesn’t matter if you’re reading R&R and S&S back-to-back. But if you’re like me and read many many books between release dates, then it’d be nice to have a little refresher of what’s already happened.

Sin&Suffer#3

At the start of S&S, one thing is abundantly clear. Cleo’s and Arthur’s love for each other is infinite. It’s f*cking untouchable. Nothing can stop it—not even each other. Their love is the kind of love fairy tales are made of. But make no mistake, Sin & Suffer is no conventional fairytale. In fact, for the most part it’s a tragedy. I say this because tragically horrible things happen to both Art and Cleo throughout this epically bad ass romance. And I am certain, had it not been for the strength that their undying love and devotion provided, they’d have given into death, despair, or one of the hundred or so bloodthirsty biker dudes looking to kill them both. All in all, it was good. Not amazing. But good.

Sin&Suffer#2

With all of that said, I can’t honestly say that Sin & Suffer was my favorite of the two. I found myself–dare I say–bored at times, while reading. Throughout the entire book there was this huge build up to an outcome that was a bit lackluster for me. The plot progression in this book was really slow and pretty frustrating as well. Highlight: THE SEX IS STELLAR! Pepper really knows how to write hot sex. Seriously. I will probably reread those pages. *Wink*
Will this series end with book 2?!? Honestly, I don’t see another book for this series happening, so I will say goodbye to Killian and Cleo, Much love KC!, and thank you to Pepper for another memorable story and more memorable characters. Their past was sad, their future deservedly rewritten, and their love (and love making) was epic!
