When I first saw the cover of Black I was in love-lust with it, but I’m trying so hard to read synopsis before requesting any book, so I read the blurb and Oh. My. God. I mean… Look at this:
I am loyal, but I will betray you.
I am strong, but I have scars.
I am an angel, but the devil.
I was sold with the first three lines. This book ended up being as good as the blurb. The plot was very surprising, the characters were greatly developed and it has a HUGE twist that I didn’t see coming. I was hooked with the story from beginning to end, especially the ending…. I cried for almost an hour while reading—this time I didn’t have an audiobook to help me cry freely while listening, but I managed to finish it and LOVED it!
Black is the story of Rose and Liam, AKA Black. They met when they were teens and they had a beautiful but brief relationship until she suddenly left, without even saying goodbye, or leaving a note. Nothing. Many years later Black found her in a very precarious circumstances: She was one of the “slaves” of a MC he worked for—more like did the dirty jobs they wouldn’t do to keep their hands clean. When Black saw Rose, all drugged, skinny and dirty, he hesitated to get her out of there but his heart decided for him, and he took her home with him. What happens after that is a shock after shock. You’ll have to read it to know why Rose ended up in that MC, why Black did the MC’s dirty job, and especially how they both would end up being salvation for one another.
This book definitely took me out of my comfort zone, but despite it having some topics I don’t usually read, I loved it so much. Black and Rose relationship was so intense, he tried so hard to keep her at arm’s length, to protect her, but their attraction was so huge, they couldn’t deny it and just act on it. I loved how Black was with his best friend #BromanceALERT, and with little Hayden. They both along with Rose brought light to the darkness of Black’s life.
All in all, great book, great plot, great characters and great LOVE/TRAGIC story. I recommend this book for you all to read.
