She’s always played it safe…

College junior Lucy Washington abides by one rule—avoid risk at all costs. She’s cautious in every aspect of her life, from her health, to her mock trial team, to the boring guys she dates. When a brash, gorgeous jock walks into the campus coffeeshop and turns his flirt on, Lucy is stunned by the force of attraction. For the first time ever, she’s willing to step out of her comfort zone, but can she really trust the guy who’s determined to sweep her off her feet?

He’s always played around…

Entering his last year of college eligibility, linebacker Matthew "Matty" Iverson has the team captaincy in his sights. And it’s his for the taking, if he can convince his quarterback Ace Anderson to give up the starting position. Luckily, Matty already has an edge—the hottie he’s lusting over just happens to be Ace’s childhood best friend. Getting Lucy on his side and in his bed? Hell yeah. Matty is more than confident he can have both, but when he falls hard for Lucy, it’s time for a new game plan: convince the woman of his dreams that she’s not sleeping with the enemy.

Caro’s Book Review: 4,5 stars

“Jock Blocked” is the story of Lucy, a Poli-Sci student in her senior year at college. Also, she is diabetic, works at a coffee-shop and hates jocks. Or so she thinks… When she meets Matty at her job, she first doesn’t know who he is and despite her aversion to manwhoring football players, she starts hanging out with him more often. Matty was never a relationship-kind of guy. That changes, when he can’t get Lucy out of his head anymore… But then Lucy’s best friend and Matty’s teammate JR aka Ace starts to meddle with their relationship and soon every risk seems too high – or rien ne va plus.

Ok, confession time first. I did not read the first book in this series, “Sacked”. And it didn’t dampen my reading experience with “Jock Blocked”, it made me more curious for it. Then my rating has been saved by the second half of the book. The first 50% were almost too boring for me, in the sense that there was a lot of talk about poli-sci (the college course, politics), mock trials to be exact, and football. Yes, I get that these are the major part of the MC’s lifes. But at the half-book-mark, the relationship between Matty and Lucy was lukewarm at best but I knew all there was to know (whether I wanted to or not) about the team statistics, trial defenses and what the heck else. Then the second half of the book came and I was prepared to just get through with the book. But oh my gosh. Did the second half of the book ever surprise me. It suddenly became angsty and very relationship-focused. I LOVED it so much!

The characters were very likeable, the writing was good and the sex-scenes were hot. I could guess the twist early on, but that was ok. The only thing that bothered me, was the abundance of not plot related information.

All in all, I rate “Jock Blocked” with 4,5 stars (3 stars for the first half of the book and 5 for the second half) and can recommend it to fans of sports romance.

Claudia’s Book Review: 5 “worthy” stars

I’ve became a huge fan of sport romance, yep, I love players! The hot kind. Those who give their hearts when they fall in love with the right girl. Those like Matty….

Since I knew about this book I was very excited to read it, I loved Knox’ story so I wanted to know who was next.

Matthew “Matty” Iverson plays for the Western State Warriors, this is his year, he has to go pro next season, and he can have the team captaincy but the price to get it doesn’t worth it, specially when her relationship with Lucy is involve.

“I’ve hungered for wins on the field, championships, success, but never a person. Not until Luce. “

Lucy Washington is extremely cautious in all her life’s aspects, she avoids risk, now she has to decide is Matty is a risk willing to take.

I enjoy reading this book, Matty and Luce share this amazing connection that will make you grin all the time and will make you heart be filled with love, yeah that corny, lol, not that corny, I am the corny one.

Jen Frederick knows how to write amazing sport romance. I love her writing, the perfect balance between sexy scenes and romance with a little bit of tension. I can’t wait for the next book, who will be next? Maybe Hammer, this guy is so funny or maybe Ace, I think he deserves to have his story too…..

”I think the reward of you is worth the risk.”
