Do you ever wonder Whatever happened to...? Find out when you reconnect with your favorite characters from Melissa Brayden’s Heart Block, Rachel Spangler’s LoveLife, and Karis Walsh’s Worth the Risk.
In Firework by Melissa Brayden: Lucy Danaher was born into a life of privilege, and has always enjoyed the view from the top. But after clashing with reporter and rights activist Kristin James, she wonders if there’s more to the world than she once thought.
In Getting Serious by Rachel Spangler: Lisa Knapp has never been the romantic lead. She’s better suited to comic relief, but when another guest at her best friend’s wedding doesn’t go for the easy laugh, Lisa has to face the prospect of getting serious.
In Risk Factor by Karis Walsh: Myra Owens runs a therapeutic riding program for returning soldiers. She won’t risk getting hurt by becoming personally involved with her riders until Ainslee Harriot challenges her to take a chance on love.
We received this book/audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect our opinion of the book or the content of our review.
Disclaimer: I’m on my period, I’m hormonal and sensitive so this will be a 100% biased review.
First thing I want to get off the way: I haven’t read any of the full length stories so I have zero background of any of the characters. Also, I’ll be reviewing only two of the three stories because I couldn’t finish the third because PTSD is hard for me.
This book has 3 stories, sort of spin offs of previous books by all this amazing authors, first we have Melissa Brayden’s story Firework which I really loved, because I love how adorable and feel good Brayden’s stories are, Lucy is a very privileged woman who is being challenged in a professional level by Kirstin, a young journalist seeking for truth, and I want to be honest, I thought this was incredibly cute, I love women who challenge each other and have a ying-yang dynamic. I love they can butt heads but at the core of things really GET IT and just admire each other for their differences. Melissa, if you’re reading this: PLEASE GIVE ME A FULL LENGTH STORY ABOUT THESE WOMEN! I’LL GIVE YOU MY FIRST CHILD!
As our second novella, we have Getting Serious by Rachel Spangler a story that starts at a wedding (rom com material!) and women wearing tuxedos, and if you follow me in any of my social media accounts, specifically on my tumblr (pstt http://bit.ly/219FwqC) you can see that’s my kryptonite, so when we meet Lucy, an emotionally unavailable woman with a sharp tongue -see what I did there?- and an amazing sense of humor (10/10 relatable) WEARING A TUX AT HER BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING we can totally love her, specially when she starts flirting with Marty, a charming woman who can keep up and enjoys the banter, who feels connected and in basically a rendezvous of one night we get invested and wishing for more (this is story is a big tease, A+ sex scene).
And lastly our third adventure is Risk Factor by Karis Walsh, which as previously stated, I couldn’t finish. It’s about veterans and involves PTSD so I’m not in an emotional place to be able to deal with this.
Please let me know what you think/feel about this because I really need to vent.
