I love mystery novels and typically stick to them…thriller is not what I am used to reading, but when I realized this was mystery AND thriller, I thought “what a better way to get out of my comfort zone than to read a book that is both mystery AND thriller?” I requested this book for review because the blurb left me intrigued. This is my first YA mystery/thriller book and I really LOVED it. Most of all, I loved it because it was so well written. It had great pace and twists and the character was amazing…she’s strong, intelligent and literally a great heroine!!
This book is about the story of Julia. She and her best friend Liv were jogging in the woods when unexpectedly someone attacked Liv. Without thinking, Liv, twice saved her friend and she’s the one that ended kidnapped.
As Julia is a survivor, she escaped from her abductor. Now a year after her abduction, she wants answers. In order for her to move on from the woods and her abduction, she needs to know WHY happened this. A body of a woman is found right there on the woods and new memories of her own kidnapping begin to surface. She begins to get answers, but not the answers she was expecting.
I LOVE the plot! It not only focuses on mystery and suspense, but we have glimpses of friendship and romance. The way a girl tried hard to be normal again, leave behind all of her fears and move on and try to have her life back.
Expect the unexpected! When you think you have it figured out, you realize you’re completely wrong. So don’t waste time, grab this book and enjoy the mystery of THE WOODS.
