She can forgive, but can she forget?

Some days, Everly still thinks she sees him. In the food court at the mall, or in a car speeding past as the light changes. It only lasts a second, but when it happens, she slips back to a time when she was ruled-and nearly ruined-by August Kincaid. And it doesn't matter that she's moved on, that she's about to marry another man. In those moments the only thing she can do to regain control is take a deep breath and remind herself that August can't hurt her-because he's in a coma. Except that he's not anymore.

August is awake. With no memories, he sets out to solve the mystery of his lost life. He unearths a photograph of a beautiful redhead named Everly and knows instinctively that she's the key. But when he finds her, the August she describes is more monster than man.

Tortured by the thought of having hurt her, August wants only to become the man Everly deserves. As the new August emerges, Everly glimpses the person she first fell in love with. But can she trust that this August is real? When the final secret of their shared past is revealed, one of them will make a choice that changes their future forever . . .

4 stars

You think you know…But you have no idea!

Everly is happy and content with her life. Engaged to a wonderful man and enjoying her new life and looking forward to the future. Until she gets a phone call from her past that will slowly destroy all her plans and hopes for a better and brighter tomorrow and draw her back to all the pain she was running from for so many years.

Some things are meant to stay in the past but not all loves allow us to do that. They are buried deep within us and just waiting for their chance to rise again. And August is coming back to claim what was once his…one way or another.

Here we have a love triangle of a sort Present vs. Past…and Everly is torn which way to go. Stay with Ryan who has been her anchor and strength for years and is treating her like she is all he has in life and would give up everything for her. Then we have August who has been her great love since their early years but also someone who became her fear and biggest nightmare.

Who will she choose? The safe card who she can rely on in everything or the wild one who claims he is a changed man and there isn’t an inch of his former self left in him.

When I read the blurb for this book I was expecting something entirely different from what I actually got to know later while reading the book. And that is a positive thing here, because the story turned out to be a whole lot better and cryptic than I could’ve imagined. I have to say I loved all these three main characters for different reasons. This story was a breath of fresh air when it comes to the plot and its sneaky development.

But I must admit August was/is ? still my favorite one. They way author created him to be was so wonderful and I was enjoying and looking forward to each chapter with his POV. It was so joyful to follow his way to recovery, to take part in his thoughts into becoming a new and improved man. Everly on the other hand acted a bit like a spoil brat that didn’t know which toy to play with and I felt sorry for both men in some situations but I understand her too….I think 😉

Let’s talk about the lack of “sexual content”. I feel a book like this that is reuniting former lovers while the present one is still there the sex scenes should have been more detailed and fired up. This was sweet and cute but nothing more than that I am afraid.

Something that bothered the living hell out of me was that I figured out 2 crucial twists very early that were to happened later on in the book and I couldn’t take my mind of it. I was fearing how that would play out and if I was going to love any of my dear characters. And when I  came to THE END I was pleased to see that those parts didn’t ruined this story for me on the contrary it just made me crave for more and that is just what I will do next. Book 2 Remembering Everly is the next installment and it better give me some answers pretty quick before I lose my mind over this. I believe that book will rectify many unanswered questions and resolve many secrets and hopefully provide some HEA in the end.

“You are mine, Everly he whispered.
Mine and mine alone.
I own every part of you, every inch of your body…every breath in your lungs.
