Damon Atwood was Hollywood’s golden boy. Having won an Oscar at the tender age of thirteen, he had the life many could only dream about. But his success came at a price, and after a short but fruitful film career, he chose to live a life of obscurity on a remote Scottish island. Almost a decade later he’s finally ready to make his return, starting with a lead role in a musical on London’s West End.

As a choreographer’s assistant, Rose Taylor has always faded into the background. She watches shows come to life from the side lines, but has never craved the attention of stardom. When rumours begin circulating of Damon’s involvement in her latest gig, she doesn’t predict how she will be thrust into the limelight, nor how the mysterious and strangely introverted man will need her to teach him how to be a star again.

Rose knows that show crushes don’t last. Actors fall for each other during the intensity of a production, often losing themselves in their roles. These kinds of affairs burn bright and then they fade. The question is, should Rose let herself shine with Damon, or guard her heart from being broken after the final curtain call?

Sasha’s Review: 6 Exqusite Stars!

OH.
MY.
GOD!!!!

Magic. This book was MAGIC. Showmance is exquisite and deeply moving. One of L.H. Cosway GREATEST work. With Cosway there is no doubt that i fall hopelessly in love with ALL THE WORDS.

Showmance is art, love and passion. A story about two souls lost in the beauty of art, brought together by love. In the classic way Cosway writes, sassy, funny and deeply romantic plus adding the touch of the beauty of musicals and dancing, Showmance is an an instant classic. I don’t know how to put in words all that Showmance made me feel. It made my heart fragile, full, content, sad, and completely captivated. You won’t find beauty like this in any other book. Is this my favorite book by Cosway? Well, i can’t answer that, this author just keeps getting better and better. I drop EVERYTHING to read her books everything single time and i can do it for a lifetime, just as long as she writes.

”Staring at his beautifully masculine profile in slumber, I wondered if i hadn’t already fallen for this man a long time ago, long before we’d ever known the sublime union of each other’s bodies.”

Now i need to gush about DAMON. DAMON DAMON DAMON!! Damon is one of those heroes that steal YOUR SOUL. That hero. The one that ruins you for any other book boyfriend. I ADORE HIM. Damon was an artist, an artist that disappeared for almost a decade because of how bad life treated him, but he was never forgotten. He found himself again, slowly, singing, dancing, with ROSE as his guide.

Another thing that made me love this book so much, is how deeply i loved the heroine as well. Rose was everything!!! A gave her part of my heart. She is one of those heroines that it makes you upset the fact that you can’t call her and invite her out for coffee. She was all kind, all lovely, strong and at the same time fragile. She was a dancer, a beautiful artist hidden behind the curtains. Yes, she was Damon’s guide heart and soul but he was also hers. Her guide to the spotlight, her guide to true love.

”I was a simple worshipper on the altar of her talent.”

I love when you are reading the love between two characters that simply were meant to be together. I was deeply moved by the passion Damon and Rose share. The beauty of their romance is so consuming, i felt like i could barely breathe. They had my heart and soul in such entrance i couldn’t even cry, i just read and read until my heart felt like it was going to burst out of my chest.

”You live
I love you
You breathe
I live
You dance
I breathe
I sing
You love me.”

Another thing i feel like giving Cosway a standing ovation is her supporting characters. Gosh! Rose’s best friend Julian, i wanted to steal him for me (yeah all the while loving Damon) and just keep him safe in my arms. DEAR COSWAY I NEED HIS BOOK PLEASE!

You don’t really spend any time hating any character, yeah, there might be some characters that will make you frown but that’s it. Another thing thing that makes Showmance a fantastic experience. You get so lost in the beauty and passion of the book that any evil character can be forgiven and understood.

YOU GUYS NEED TO READ THIS BOOK! DROP EVERYTHING AND READ IT. I really want this book to be everyone’s favorite. L.H. Cosway deserves it. Cosway can write real beauty. I’ve been captivated beyond words. One of my all time favorite this year. Don’t miss out on the magic this author can do with words.

Caro’s Review: 4 stars

four-stars

“Showmance” is the story of Rose and Damon. He once was a big Hollywood-Star, but turned his back on the whole stardom. Now, he has auditioned to play the lead in a theatre in London. The chemistry between him and the choreograph’s assistant Rose is off the charts, but both have set their minds on different goals for the time being. Only catch: Love doesn’t give a damn about goals, it just happens…

Ever since I read “Painted Faces”, I’m a big fan of LH Cosway’s writing. She can evoke all sorts of emotions inside me and her characters are always real; someone I can relate to. This was not different in “Showmance”. The characters were adorable, even the “not so nice” ones. I felt every little bit of connection the MC’s shared and was in love with the whole dancing-concept the author painted for me. I could literally feel their chests brush together and their breaths tickle each other’s noses – it was written that vivid. Yep, I simply loved this book.

So, why only 4 stars? Well, I was a bit annoyed with the pacing. I totally understood their reasons for taking it slowly. But after the 7th back and forth and yes and no, I was ready to combust. Their sexual tension was off the charts, but they didn’t act on it until mid 80%-ish. But that isn’t really what bugged me, just a tiny part of it. It was their constant belitteling of their feelings and the connection they had, just to maybe be able to prevent getting hurt. I mean, love does make you blind but I just wanted them to get a hold of their feelings already and finally risk something and not thinking it over and over again. Yes, it was too much at a certain point; and I wouldn’t call it even angsty at that, it was simply frustrating after all this time. That all had for me as a consequence, that the ending was a tad bit rushed. But not too bad, I just wished for a bit more of seeing them happy after all this back and forth. BUT I hope we’ll get to see more of Damon and Rose in Julian’s book. YES, this will so happen – LH Cosway plans on writing my favorite character from “Showmance” Julian his own book next year – and I can’t wait for that one!!! He is Rose’s best friend and such a complex and interesting character.

All in all, I rate “Showmance” with 4 stars. It was a tender, heartfelt and passionate romance with a good dose of friendship, love, forgiveness and character-growth interwoven. Can be read as a standalone (completely with HEA), I’d advise mature readers because of explicit sexual contents.
