Serena McDonald’s Review:

5 SHATTER ME, BREAK ME, ANNIHILATE ME STARS!!!

five-stars

If you read First Touch then I do not need to tell you how heart stopping that ending was.  I felt like someone punched me in the gut.  Oh, wait.  That someone would be Laurelin Paige.  Yeah.  She’s good like that.  The complete and utter devastation I felt after I finished that book was astounding.  My mind was blown.  My heart was shredded.  I think I may have actually gone a bit crazy to be honest.  Yes I’m dramatic, but it’s the truth.  Laurelin has a way to make you FEEL what the characters FEEL.  And I was broken.  Completely broken.  And then…

THE.  WAIT.  The wait for Last Kiss.  My god.  It was torture.  But you know what?  I wouldn’t change a damn thing.  So, needless to say, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on  Last Kiss, the conclusion to Reeve and Emily’s story.  With that whore (who shall remain nameless) back in the picture, I didn’t know what the hell was going to happen!  So, yeah.  I knew I was about to be taken on one hell of a ride with these amazing characters, and I could not wait!

The scenes between Reeve and Emily had me doing several things.  Sometimes simultaneously.  I gasped.  I swooned.  And I even moaned.  Ok?  I moaned.  A LOT.  I mean, HELLO.  If you know Laurelin’s work, you know she can write some of the dirtiest, hottest and sexiest scenes ever.  Some scenes had me writhing with pleasure.  BUT.  She also writes beautiful scenes.  This time around, the journey that Reeve and Emily took was much deeper and more emotional.  I love these characters so much.  I truly came to appreciate and adore them even more.  My heart literally did a million things along the way.

I have to admit, Reeve is not so ass-holey in this book.  I didn’t think it was possible, but I actually fell for him all over again.  In fact, I fell HARDER.  He’s dirty, dark and dangerous.  He’s commanding and sexier than hell.  And he likes to punish.  I wanted him to punish me in every possible way because….because why the hell wouldn’t I?!  Hello!  He’s basically a Greek God!  My admitted weakness for a book boyfriend is a dirty talker.  He’s so dirty, he makes the devil look like an angel.   But I also saw beneath the dark and dangerous exterior of Reeve Sallis, and I bloody well loved it.

Paige completely captivates you with her enticing and gripping writing.  She makes you love and hate her characters.  You will feel all of the feels and then some.  You become attached to them.  You almost feel like you are in a relationship with them.  Hell with it.  You ARE in a relationship with these characters.  I did not want Reeve and Emily’s story to end.  Last Kiss was sexy, stunning, mesmerizing and breathtaking.  It’s like a kiss that never fades.  It was perfection.  And in all the best ways….you will die, die, die.  The End.
