Keep your lover close and your enemy closer…
After giving in to a fiery night of passion, island adventurer Steph Anderson and bounty hunter Jake Harlowe are back to square one. With millions in stolen jewels at stake, it’s hard for Steph not to question her new partner’s true motives—no matter how sexy he might be. Jake is hungry for more of Steph, but he can sense her growing mistrust, which only fuels his own doubts. Worse, there’s undeniable evidence that someone else is now after the jewels—and that they are both in real danger.
Fighting against their magnetic attraction is a distraction these two can’t afford. In order to survive, they’ll have to pull off one more heist—and trust each other with something even more precious than jewels: their hearts.

Book Review: 5 stars
Part 2 of the Jewel series is a continuation of Steph’s and Jake’s story which ended with a BANG in book 1 The Sapphire Affair ( that book must be read before book 2 ). Steph finally put her guard down and trusted Jake was the good guy just to have it all ripped away and all the doubts and fears were back with one small act that she wasn’t even sure Jake had done. She was a woman on a mission to find out the truth and she has no intention on failing.
This series must make it to big screens! It’s perfect for the Hollywood and would draw in big bucks let me tell you!
I have always loved watching Sherlock Holmes series both older and these new versions. So that is how I would describe Steph’s and Jake’s relationship…well at least if the real Sherlock and his Watson were of the opposite sex and had these crazy good and hot steamy desires for each other and no control over their naughty thoughts or their hands for that matter.
There is mystery, thrilling change of the events right and left, new suspects where ever you look and no one to trust. I loved the pace in this part, there was always something going on, new theories of who had the diamonds, who had stolen them and a big question of how to get hold of them before their enemies get the chance. This scenario is so different from what I have ready by Lauren Blakely so far and it still feels so exciting and new like The Sapphire Affair did. When ever I was reading I got sucked into their world and suddenly I wasn’t here anymore. I felt like I was taking part in an action romance movie where the search never ends and love never disappoints. The kind of relationship Steph and Jake had was more relaxed than what we have the chance of reading about today. Sure they had their issues and doubts threatened to draw them into to the quick sand waiting for them to make the wrong move. But what every relationship needs to make it is trust and honesty and these two realized that is what they need to focus otherwise they would lose what they slowly and unknowingly started to build together.
For a moment there I was willing to give some characters the benefit of a doubt but let’s face it if your gut is telling you something …. no screaming something at you at all times than the chances for it to be something completely different are pretty small close to none existing. So I wasn’t that surprised with the final outcome of this story but liked how some got just what they deserved and more both good and bad.
Overall I enjoyed this story that kept rising my pulse and gave me the ending I was hoping for. My only wish would have been for a little longer future of Steph’s and Jake’s relationship in the epilogue but otherwise it is one joyful and delightful read.
My kindest recommendations for this series goes out to everyone who wants some great story with high quality writing.
