From New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones comes a brand new gripping and provocative novel that ties into her bestselling Careless Whispers and Inside Out series. You can enjoy this as a standalone, but fans of Careless Whispers and Inside Out will get an exciting glimpse of who Ella really is and some of the secrets she's been hiding from everyone she knows.
Desperate to pay for law school, Skye tries her hand at auction hunting with her friend Ella, only to find a poker chip and a note leading to an offsite locker. The next thing she knows, Jason “Red Bull” Wise—a famous, millionaire poker player—is at her door, accusing her of blackmail. Innocent, she swears he’s wrong. He rolls the dice and believes her, impulsively inviting her along to Las Vegas. And remarkably, cautious Skye takes a risk, finding herself seduced by this dangerously alluring man, on his private jet, and finally living life to the fullest. But there is more than passion waiting for Skye and Jason in Vegas when blackmail takes a deadly turn.

Book Review: 4 stars
Skye is struggling with two jobs to be able to afford law school and make it on her own and in hope for some quick extra cash she goes storage hunting with her friend Ella who convinces her to buy a unit that was way too expensive for Skye’s pocket. So she is going through it to find anything of worth to at least break even for the money she paid for it. She never expected to find something in that unit that’s out of extreme importance to someone’s future.
That someone turned out to be Jason AKA Red Bull the professional poker player that had been blackmailed by a girl who wanted more than he could and wanted to give.
So Jason is determined to convince Skye of his innocence and that he is in great need for her help in trying to discover who is playing games with his head and wants to see him fall.
And the truth will amaze you…. But you will have to read the book to find it out 😉
This is my first time meeting Jason (I know many know him from some other books already) and he is yet another perfect and compassionate hero from the hand of Lisa Renee Jones! She really knows how to present powerful, strong alphas but with a touch of sweetness and understanding in them as well.
I was very intrigued to find out who was behind the blackmailing and what was Skye hiding that made her trust only herself and detach from everyone else. It was undeniable that Jason and her shared some invisible bound and instant lust that was slowly growing into more.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Lisa is the master of secrets and mystery stories and I will never get bored of them. Already at chapter 1 and 2 I was on the edge and hiding under my blanket and telling myself and Skye “Don’t go there, don’t open the door, don’t look that way”
You know like that feeling when you’re watching an intense thriller or horror movie and you can predict what will happen and keep yelling at the person to run the other way and they never listen.
Overall I liked this story and it cleared up some things about who Ella is (Heroine from Careless Whispers Series, and I strongly recommended reading book 1 Denial and book 2 Demand before this story).
And for the first time ever with this author there is a but… I can’t even put a finger on it myself and I was really upset with my feelings while reading this book. There was something that kept derailing me of my path here. I got hooked and I got lost…I got hooked and I got lost. And I have no problems with insta-love of anything but with Jason and Skye it just rubbed me the wrong way somehow at the beginning.
It took me a while to finish this and I can’t even explain why….My attention wasn’t all in it at all times and that is the reason for me giving this a 4 star rating. I still liked the story and how it all wrapped up in the end and Lisa is keeping her place in my spotlight just like before no matter what.
