From the NYT Bestselling author of MISTER O, comes a sexy new standalone romance…
Let me count the ways why falling into forbidden love is not my wisest move…
1. She works with me every single day.
Did I mention she's gorgeous, sweet, kind and smart?
2. She works in my home.
Playing with my five-year-old daughter. Teaching my little girl. Cooking for my princess. Which means…
3. She's the nanny.
And that makes her completely off-limits…But it doesn’t stop me from wanting her. All of her.***
The other nannies in this city don't call him the Sexy One for nothing. My boss, the amazingly wonderful single father to the girl I take care of every day is ridiculously hot, like movie star levels with those arms, and those eyes, and that body. Not to mention, the way he dotes on his little girl melts me all over. But what really makes my knees weak are the times when his gaze lingers on me. In secret. When no one else is around.
I can't risk my job for a chance at something more…can I? But I don’t know how to resist him much longer either…

Book Review: 5 Stars
“I can’t let on how I feel about Simon, because I’ve spent the last seven months taking care of his adorable five-year-old daughter.” –Abby.
Abby Becker has it bad. Bad for her boss. She is an in home nanny for a single, SEXY man named Simon Travers. “If you looked up ‘hot single dad’ in the dictionary, you’d find his picture.”-Abby. She has spent the last, a little over seven months, hiding her growing affections for Simon. She can list off the reasons this is a bad idea: 1. Hello, he’s her BOSS! That’s an automatic “no go”. 2. She adores Hayden and if they do cross that invisible “no go” line, and things go south, where does that leave things? No job, that’s where. So with those possibilities, that leaves Abby right where she’s at…lusting from afar.
Simon Travers was recommended, by a friend, to hire Abby to nanny for his daughter, Hayden. And he couldn’t be more grateful because Abby is a perfect fit for Hayden. Problem is…”Insta-lust. Trouble is, it’s morphed into a h*lluva lot more than lust in all the time she’s spent in my home, with my family, with my kid. Admiration. Fondness. The real deal. It’s turned into exactly what I cannot have. A big thing for my kid.” –Simon. He’s attracted to her intelligence, her fierceness, and her independence. He finds her directness refreshing and alluring. He finds her beautiful. Plain and simple, he’s attracted to everything about HER. But he knows he can’t get involved with his nanny. How cliché is that? Firstly, what if things don’t work out if they DO hook up, he knows Hayden would be devastated (as well as he would be). Secondly, he’s thirty-four and she’s twenty-six. Their lives are completely different and he doesn’t know how he’d fit into her life. And lastly, he doesn’t want to “bring her down” with his baggage. He knows her life is free of baggage right now and he sees her going far in life. So, that Simon admiring from a distance.
Of course trying to resist each other is impossible. Stolen moments here and there. Lust turns to longing. Casual touches turns to one heated kiss. All this attraction is heat and fire. COMBUSTIBLE. “My sweet, sweet, Abby. You know I can’t resist you.” –Simon. Can that combustion be contained or will everything go up in smoke? Will they be able to find a balance? Simon can navigate and negotiate any business deal, but can he navigate this?
This novel was forbidden love at its finest. Simon and Abby’s story was absolutely adorable. It was the type of book that you could read in one sitting and be left feeling complete. Fulfilled. I had happy butterflies in my tummy for a majority of this book. Their story was real and true and an utter joy to read. This book was about honesty, openness and realness. Simon and Abby both had insta-lust for each other, which developed into an affection that developed into a love. Lauren Blakely did a wonderful job of conveying the potential problems that could arise if these two characters became more than “employer/employee” and she found a way to come to a “middle ground” where they could find their HEA. *happy dance*.
This novel can be read as a standalone, but I would consider it a spinoff. The reader gets interactions with characters in this book, who were main characters in another book of Lauren’s. For example, Harper and Nick (both characters from MISTER O). Harper is Abby’s best friend and old roommate. At the end of THE SEXY ONE, Lauren has a message about her next novels to come: Stay tuned for THE HOT ONE, Tyler (Simon’s friend) and Delaney’s second-chance love story, releasing March 2017. But first, get ready for things to heat up for Gabriel (secondary character in THE SEXY ONE) and his love interest, Penny, the woman who runs the Little Friends dog shelter, where Wyatt (WELL HUNG) and Nick (MISTER O) volunteer. THE ONLY ONE releases in December. YAY! More books to look forward to!
