He's won the hearts of millions. But is he willing to lose his?

I met the president’s son when we were both young. Matthew Hamilton was handsome, polished, and intelligent. I’d never met a guy like him.

He promised me that he’d never run for president. I promised that if he did, I’d be by his side.

Three terms later, an invitation to join Matthew Hamilton’s campaign is the most exhilarating opportunity I’ve ever experienced. I'm determined to make a difference; he is determined to win.

Focused on his goal, Matt is steadfast, ruthless, and disarming. All eyes are on him and his popularity is surging. But soon, the next possible president of the United States is possessing me in more ways than one—and despite the risks, I'm helpless to resist.

We're stealing touches, stealing moments, and stealing away at night. But our chemical connection is quickly becoming dangerously combustive, putting not only my heart, but Matt's chance at the presidency on the line.

Winning will take everything. Walking away will be the hardest thing of all.

I have not hidden the fact that I LOVE all things Katy Evans. I had an “insta-lust” with her after reading her REAL series back in 2014 and much like Matt and Charlotte in MR PRESIDENT, it has grown into an admiration and love for not only her writing, but her as well. Her books bring a continued allure and bliss that can be rare to find for an avid reader such as myself. Over time, and with all the books I’ve read, I find that I am getting harder and harder to please, so when I can get completely enchanted and find joy in a beautiful love story like this, I am thankful to the author and their creative abilities. So THANK YOU Katy Evans for bringing us readers another beautifully spellbinding book!

My Summary: (spoiler free)

“I was eleven when I was first introduced to Hamilton’s legendary charm.” – Charlotte. Even at the age of eleven, Charlotte was completely enamored by the mere presence of Matthew Hamilton. Matt and his father, Lawrence Hamilton (the President of the United States), attended dinner at the home of the Wells’ (Charlotte’s family home) when they first met. Even though, they spoke minimally, there was an obvious connection. After saying good-night that evening, Charlotte found herself compelled to write a letter to Matthew, “I want to thank you and the President for coming. If you decide to run for president, you have my vote. I’d even be willing to join your campaign.” She didn’t receive a response, nor did she expect one. Now, over a decade later, she sees the news: BREAKING NEW: MATTHEW HAMILTON HAS CONFIRMED HIS INTENTION TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT. Her lifetime crush is running for president! Her parents are invited to the campaign inaugural. Of course her parents see this as an opportunity for Charlotte to “get her feet wet” in politics, she’s the daughter of a ex-senator after all. “It’s time for you to make a difference, take steps in embracing your own personal power…” – Charlotte’s mom. She looks at this as an opportunity for clarity. A way for her to banish her lifelong crush and move on. Or at least that’s what she’s telling herself, but instead she finds herself still very much overwhelmed by his charm.

Matthew Hamilton never planned to run for president. No matter how many times he heard his father tell everyone he would. “A thousand times, my father said I would be President. He told his friends, his friend’s friends, and he often told me. I’d laugh and shake it off.”  Matt had other plans for his life, but sometimes plans change. Hopes and dreams change. After his father was assassinated, he was consumed with figuring out who did it. But after not finding justice, he decided to put his willpower where it mattered. Now, he is an Independent candidate running for the President of the United States. After his national announcement, at his inaugural party, he spots Charlotte Wells. “I’m determined to have her on my team.” He knows that she is just as driven and passionate about this country as he is and just maybe, he’s been slightly intrigued with her since he first met her all those years ago and he wants to learn more about the woman she’s become.

Now, Charlotte is signed on to be a political aide in his campaign. Speculations begin almost immediately. Why would candidate Hamilton bring in such an inexperienced political aide to help with his campaign? What is the real reason he brought her on? With the world (and the Republican and Democratic candidates) dying to dig up any negative details about Matt’s life that they can, now is NOT the opportune timing for Matt to be seen with one of his political aides in any fashion besides campaign related. Any type of scandal can ruin Matt and his campaign for presidency, so when moments turn from every day to stolenstolen looks, stolen touches, stolen whispers…those moments can be damaging if discovered. “Scandal is a career breaker in politics.” –Charlotte’s mom. Matt and Charlotte have to learn to navigate their scandalous rendezvous and not get caught. Both know this affair cannot go on after the election. Charlotte knows deep down that Matt WILL win and there’s no room for her in his life then. The United States will be his “First Lady”. “Winning doesn’t come with more. It’s a sacrifice he’s willing to make to become this country’s leader, the one I admire him for.” But walking away isn’t easy. Can Matt and Charlotte win at love?

“…something about this feels dark and forbidden.” –Charlotte.

Addictive.
Beautiful.
Consuming.
Delicious.
Electric.
Forbidden.
Gripping.
Heated.
Intense.

Just like Matt’s campaign slogan (“Alphabet Campaign”), I could list words A to Z to describe this book, but that would take up a lot of space and I think you get the point after the words I gave above. I’ll be honest, when I first heard this was a book surrounding politics, I was slightly nervous. I was not nervous that Katy Evans could bring us phenomenal writing and a beautiful story (which, for me, she always does), but I was worried I wasn’t going to be able to connect with the story or the characters. But let me tell you, I was WAY wrong! Yes, this story is about politics, but at its core, it is a love story. It is Matt and Charlotte’s love story. This was a story about forbidden love. Finding your true match in the most inopportune time and place. The forbidden concept in this book, is so thrilling and gripping that you can feel their connection leaping off the page! Will they get caught or will they get away with it? If he wins, can they make it work? And then the characters themselves are so multi-faceted. Matt comes off to the world as this confident, driven, honorable man (which he is), but then we get to see a deeper side of him with Charlotte. He’s more alpha with her (which I love!)…protective, possessive, and mischievous. “She’s what I never knew I wanted and have discovered that I need.”  Charlotte is this energetic, unapologetic, sweet character who is impossible not to love. She grounds Matt and the same time pushes him to achieve his best. She wants him to win, even though that means she will lose. The connection these two characters have for each other is what made me fall in love with this book. What starts out as a slow, hesitant connection builds into irresistible admiration and genuine love. They are simply perfect for each other and I hope they get their HEA! “We’re the perfect couple, in the most imperfect situation.” –Charlotte.

This is the first of the WHITE HOUSE duet. The second is anticipated to be released Jan 2017.
