Billionaire Caleb Blackstone lives in the glamorous world of wealth and success, with every material luxury. But the moment he sees Brooke Casterley, none of that matters. Caleb is filled with a raw, undeniable need that he can’t ignore…for a girl who is so completely different from everything and everyone he’s ever known.

Only Brooke isn’t looking for love. She knows all too well just how much damage the wrong guy can do. Still, what sane, broke British girl can resist the charms of an incredibly sexy, chivalrous billionaire? What starts as flirtation quickly turns into all-consuming passion. Nothing could have prepared her for the searing heat of Caleb’s touch—or just how much she craves him.

Their whirlwind romance is the stuff of high-society fantasy—but for every moment of pleasure, there is a cost. Past mistakes and tragedy shadow them both…and falling for him might be the kind of trouble she can’t afford.

Book Review: 4 “The Heart Wants What It Wants” stars!!

I’m so sad right now while writing this review because unfortunately, Caleb didn’t reach my expectations and the awesomeness I waited for him. He may had his own charm and the story had some interesting moments, but for the most part it felt kind of off to me. But let’s take it from the start.

Filthy Rich is the first book on Miller’s new series Blackstone Dynasty. For those who have read – and gotten intimate – with Ethan Blackstone from the other Blackstone series, The Blackstone Affair, s/he would already know that Blackstones have that something to make you swoon and possess you for life. And may Caleb didn’t do it the same way Ethan did, but he did claimed a piece of my heart with his unique personality. Both Caleb and Brooke are individuals that you can’t help notice which also make their love the same. Brooke is a young woman who has been literally through the deepest and most painful levels of health, but her inner strength helped her survive so she can tell the story. My soul was bleeding for her – and still does – all through the book. Every time she was telling her story, I felt like my heart was squeezed from the inside out while a bunch of daggers were stabbed over and over again in her. As for Caleb, he is a successful businessman who, until he met Brooke, had lost himself for awhile and living through his routine.

“I just fell into her … because my heart knew her right away.”

And the moment he lays eyes on Brooke, both their worlds turned on their axis. And the way the turning point happened for him maybe be too fairytale-y and kind of these-things-dont-happen-in-real-life, although it was heart-warming and definitely put a big smile on my face. After that night, Caleb proved to be one of the best pursuers that I have ever encountered. He may was stubborn-as-hell and hell-bent on making Brooke his, by, at the same time, he was doing it with tact, care, caution and love since he had read Brooke’s body language and he knew that there is something painful and horrible lying under the surface. He never pushed her beyond her limits but he always tried to help her overcome her fears and her nightmares of her past so she can find herself again and open her heart and body to him. They blew me away the incredibly high levels of love, care, thoughtfulness etc he possessed in his gorgeous body and how much of an positive impact had on Brooke reclaiming herself.

I could never pay back fate for the gift of her into my life.

The book doesn’t have many founding-shaking things for me to talk about and that is one of the things that made me feel like an outsider of the story instead of an “emotional participant”. Almost the 60-70% of it, it was quite flat without any noticable events; I was just watching the linear evolution of Brooke and Caleb’s relationship how they were trying to get over the things that scarred them and still do. After that, around the 80%, something tragic and heart-clenching happens which “woke me up” and had my radars on high attention. The end I can say that it was quite expected and with the sweetness that any classic love story has. Another thing that bothered me quite a lot was the fact that Caleb Blackstone was too much perfect for my tastes. I prefer reading BBFs who are a bit “damaged” and also have serious demons and a level of darkness in them. I don’t handle well the guys that give me the impression that they are not Real and, because they seem Perfect, their character don’t have the potentials for any drastic change. Don’t get me wrong, the perfectness Caleb radieted was something new and something lovely. I just wanted for him to have more depth. On the other hand, one of the the things that I loved and it couldn’t get unnoticed was the references Brooke did to the incredibly, one-of-a-kind Disney’s 2015 motion movie, Inside Out.  Reading how she was seeing herself as one of its characters and then “teached” Caleb the deep and true meaning of this movie.

Raine Miller is one of my favorite authors. They she had unfolded and thought The Blackstone Affair and how she was testing every single character in them had captivated me beyong belief and she put Ethan on the top places of my Top BFFs and made Brynne one of my favorite and most beautiful BBGs. And I may was a bit dissapointed with Filthy Rich, but I didn’t stop wanting to read every of her books becasue I know she is a great author.  And I really can’t expect every work of hers to turn out spectacular. But they never fail to have their own unique personality and a great addiction in the Contemporary Romance world! And I definitely recommend it because 1.) it warms your heart immediately & 2.) NONE Blackstone guy should be left unread!! Plus, from the exerpt I read for the second installation of this series, James and Winter’s book is going to R O C K!!! I. CAN’T. FREAKING. WAIT. FOR. IT!!!
