He’s the guy no one likes…

Despite winning two national championships, JR “Ace” Anderson was sent packing from his old school after losing the trust of his coach. At Southern U, he has a second chance to prove that his college legacy isn’t endless debauchery and selfishness. But his reputation precedes him, and his teammates offer a chilly welcome in the locker room. The one person who is willing to accept him is the very woman he should stay away from—his new coach’s daughter.

She’s the girl everyone loves…

Bryant Johnson’s only goal in life is to make others happy, even at her own expense. One look at her father’s new star quarterback, and she knows that Ace is her next project. With a reputation for being a “jerk whisperer”, Bryant has spent her last three years at college reforming sorry behavior and turning bad boys into the best boyfriends ever. In Ace, though, she’s met with surly resistance and a sizzling attraction she doesn’t expect. Fixing this wounded warrior will be her biggest challenge yet. Not falling for him will be even harder.

Between her big heart and his damaged one, a battle is ensuing. In this game of love, every defense will crumble.

Book Review: 4.5 stars

The GRIDIRON series is one of my fave Sports Romance series. We’ve met Knox Master, the virgin (not so virgin anymore) football player in SACKED (Gridiron # 1). Then it was the linebacker, Matthew Iverson’s turn in JOCKBLOCKED, (Gridiron # 2) and when I found out that the third installment was about JR “Ace” Anderson, I didn’t know what to expect because he wasn’t one of “the favorite” guys, but let me tell you that he has stolen my heart and DOWNED is probably my favorite book of the series.

Ace used to play for the Western State Warriors as a quarterback, but his bad attitude and behaviour resulted in him losing the trust of his coach and he was released on draft. Now at Southern U, he has a second chance to prove that he’s what the team needs and a second chance to redeem himself. In the past he was a douche, he used women and disposed of them and he was a traitor too. So the team doesn’t trust him because of his past, even though he wants to start fresh but his past precedes him until he met Bryant.

Bryant Johnson was popular. Everyone loves her, she lives to please people, but at her expense. After her sister died, she committed to fixing guys, she reforms bad guys and turn them into boyfriend material. When she found out about the new star quarterback, she immediately knew that Ace was her next project.

What Bryant wasn’t expecting is that Ace would fix her too. She wasn’t ready for that.

This a lovely romance story. Drama free. I love the way the author makes the characters evolve, especially Ace. He started out being this rude guy, but gradually he changed into this caring guy who also deserves to love (and be loved). He also helped Bryant heal her heart and teach her that she deserves happiness too. If you’ve read the series, I know you’ll have doubts by I recommend that you give it a try, you will be pleasantly surprised.
