L. P. Dover’s tantalizing Second Chances series gets a change of scenery as the Carolina Cougars’ infamous bad boy heads to the West Coast. His best laid plans call for seduction—but a driven career woman has him begging for more.

Trying to live down his very public indiscretions, Carolina Cougars kicker Jaxon Reed feels like the most hated man in the NFL. When he’s traded away, his new teammates in California don’t waste any time making his life miserable. Unfortunately for them, Jaxon’s no easy target. As payback, he sets his sights on the quarterback’s sister: a sultry brunette who’s curvy, confident, and sexy as hell. But what begins as a revenge fling turns into so much more.

Bristol Thomas doesn’t have time for games, especially those played by her brother’s Neanderthal teammates. A talented interior designer with lofty goals, she doesn’t know the first thing about football, or Jaxon—except that he’s exactly the type of man she usually avoids. But when his deep laugh and deeper kisses break through her walls, she becomes the target of a fan who’s obsessed with Jaxon. Now she needs to know that Jaxon has her back . . . because he already has her heart.

Advance praise for L. P. Dover’s Catching Summer

Book Review: 3.5 Love stars

Who can resist when the bad-boy man gets his second chance at love and his well-deserved HEA? Well, no one. And Dover knows damn well how to take these second chances in whole new levels, making them from the best in the literature world. And by default, once again, she delivers a novel which will have any reader reeling for days.

Intended for Bristol  is the 9th novel in the Second Chances series and, for those who know, is the incredible story of Jaxon Reed – the guy that made Evan and Summer’s relationship go through a rough path?. But, now, that Jax couldn’t be more of an ancient instant of the brand new Jaxon Reed who tries to make amends with his mistakes and quited behaving like an arse to everybody. And just on the moment that he had “give up” on having his own HEA, he sets eyes on Bristol Thomas. Although, the things are bound to become extremelly complicated, dangerous and walking-on-edge.

Jaxon had started in the series prortraiting himself as the super asshole and that guy who loves making the others miserable. But everyone’s time to grow up and face the reality is coming some day. And he has maybe changed a lot from the start, but he has one last game to play. Which, actually, ends the moment it starts when Jax has a whiplash of the powerful emotions he feels flowing through his body for Bristol. Since then, it’s a delicious, intense and passionate downhill for the both of them. Each one gets its own reality check and in a blink of an eye, their life start making sense.

The connection these two develop is deep and undeniable. Neither can stop stay away from each other, nor stop needing each other by their side. And just like every other couple, they have too go through the customed rough path which will only strengthen their love and their foundation as a couple that is fated to last forever. Both have to fight themselves at the same time with fighting the outside obstacles life throws at them. Especially one specific which, not only had all my hair rise up high, also proved to be one very challenging and lethal one if not handled with the utter care.

Dover never stops surprising me with the stories she comes up every time. Each one of her books are a small treasure and a world where you don’t want to get out from. Especially this series, whose’s characters second-chance tales warms my heart every time. I surely can’t deny her ability to create magic with her stories and neither should you. Book after book, Dover has become an author that I never let pass me by. I really can’t wait what she will do next with Second Chance because I feel like I can’t get enough of any of its heroes; I simply need more and more. And Jaxon definitely needs more unfolding 😉
