I hired her to fix my company, to bring Marks Lingerie back to life. I didn’t expect her to become my friend. I didn’t expect to fall in love with her.

The first rule of business is to never touch your employees. I think there is another rule about not falling for your best friend—a rule against imagining the curves of her body, or the way her breathing would change if I pulled down her panties and unzipped my pants.

Now, I can’t wait any longer. I’m tossing out the rules.

Damn the company.

Damn our friendship.

Damn my fears.

Told from dual POV’s. We get a forbidden romance/friends to lover’s novel.

Kate Martin finds herself in a rut. She needs a career change. She’s spent the last eleven years wasting her potential talent working under an uptight woman at Lavern & Lilly, a conservative woman’s fashion company. She finds herself interviewing at Marks Lingerie for the newly open Creative Director position. This business is nothing like Lavern & Lilly. “His business is seduction, designing lingerie pieces that lure woman to purchase and men to take off.” But this is where her true passion lies, in undergarments. The prospective of growth and the chance to spread her wings and actually live up to her abilities is impossible to resist. She wants to prove that she has the capability to design (and sell) what woman want. And what better than to do so with a struggling company? Help bring it back from its bankrupt clutches. But she didn’t bargain for another type of resistance…“Some men reek of trouble. Trey Marks is one of those men.” She feels instant attraction for her new boss, who is the owner of Marks Lingerie, Trey Marks. Trey awakens feelings and thoughts in her that she has never felt, not even towards her fiancé, Craig. In the three years that Craig and her have been together, they have just fit together easily. Now Kate is realizing maybe too easily. Kate has hidden any qualities that she fears Craig wouldn’t approve of and without realizing, in doing so, she isn’t being her true self. Working for Trey and becoming friends with him, is making her realize this within herself. But regardless of these recognitions and her undeniable feelings toward Trey, Kate is determined to keep their office relationship professional and to stay strictly friends.

Trey Marks is at his wits end. His company is in trouble. “I’m leveraged in ways that make me sweat, our assets dwindling, sales declining, morale at all-time low.” –Trey. He is desperate for help. So when Kate Martin walks in for an interview and he sees even a sliver of potential in her, he is willing to take the chance because his company literally depends on it, on her. “I’m wagering everything on this. On you.” –Trey. Working with Kate proves to be a real strain on his willpower from the beginning. Even without his number one rule, “no fraternization with employees”, Kate is still off limits. She is engaged to another man. But as time passes and after all the late nights working and days together traveling and all the one-on-one alone time, Trey finds it harder and harder to resist the temptations. And after truly getting to know each other as friends, it’s all becoming easier said than done. But Trey knows from personal experience what can happen when interoffice relationships go south. He knows ALL TO WELL the consequences of those actions and he doesn’t want to see his company suffer, again, because of his bad choices. . “I can’t mess everything up now. My company needs her. I need her. And, unfortunately, so does my c*ck.” –Trey. And to top it all off, Trey has certain wants when it comes to the bedroom and from late night discussions with Kate, he knows without asking her right out, that she wouldn’t be too keen to those types of activities. So maybe it’s a good thing they can only be friends because she clearly can’t do what he likes, right?

“This is market research, Kate. I’m just examining the product. Now, open your legs before I pull them apart myself.” –Trey.

HOLY S*XUAL TENSION BATMAN!*fans self* I felt like I was suffering right along with Kate and Trey throughout the entire novel. You could literally cut the s*xual tension with a butter knife! The feisty banter between these two characters was the perfect fuel to the temptation fire. Their lust was tangible and agonizing at times. Like, rip my heart out at times. *tears* Like, want to throw your kindle at times *GRR* I just kept mentally thinking, “Just find a way to be together already! PLEASE! Put me out of my misery!” But their relationship needed time. They NEEDED to build their friendship before they could have a successful relationship, otherwise it would all end up blowing up in their faces and ruin the company for good. “If our relationship was lingerie, it’d be fur-lined handcuffs, latched around you, the key lost, escape impossible.” Both characters had some learning and growth to do personally before they could truly be together and Alessandra Torre captured that wonderfully. She wrote SO MUCH build-up to their relationship that when they did FINALLY get it on, it was FLAWLESSLY writing and left a goofy grin on my face. *happy dance* I think I read it backwards because I wanted to read it as slow as possible and savor the moment. *teehee*

“If our love was lingerie, it’d be leather, thin strips of binding that could withstand a hundred years of war and peace, fights and love-making. It would yield and give, yet never rip or break. It would be built to last, to wear forever.”

I would say this isn’t your typical office romance because it’s not like any other I’ve read. LOVE IN LINGERIE has a touch of everything needed in an amazing romance novel: a dose of angst, some mystery, a touch of kink *wink*, and tons of s*xual tension. This love story was effortless to read and left me happy inside after finishing it.

“I’ve never believed in fairytales, but this man—he is my Prince, my future, my everything.” –Kate.
