From New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a sexy, STANDALONE second-chance romance.

They called him Mack Daddy. No, seriously, his name was Mack. Short for Mackenzie. Thus, the nickname. Perfect, right?

So was he: perfect. The perfect physical male specimen.

At the private school where I taught, Mack Morrison was the only man around in a sea of women.

Everyone wanted a piece of the hot single father of the sweet little boy.

I was riddled with jealousy, because they didn’t know that—to me—he was much more.

They didn’t know about our past.

He’d chosen my school for his son on purpose, because Mack and I, we had unfinished business.

As my friend Lorelai so eloquently put it: “Unfinished business between two people who are clearly attracted to each other is like an eternal case of blue balls.” And I was suffering in pain from my case.

I was still intensely attracted to Mack. I tried to resist him, immersing myself further into a relationship with another man just to protect my heart.

Not to mention, getting involved with a parent was strictly against school rules. But seeing Mack day in and day out was breaking me down.

And soon I might be breaking all the rules.

Author's note – Told in alternating points of view, Mack Daddy is a full-length standalone novel.

five-stars

Each time Penelope Ward writes a book it makes it even more impossible to have a favorite book from her. No matter if she writes on her own or she co-writes with another author, she manages to give us an amazing and unique story, with outstanding main characters and a captivating storyline.

This is a second-chance romance, he was “the one who got away”, and now he’s back.

I don’t want to give too much of this story, Francesca O’Hara (aka Frankie) is a first grade teacher that is starting a new year, when suddenly her past comes back. One of her students is Mackenzie Morrison’s son (aka Mack, aka “Mack Daddy”). Mack is the one that got away, the one that broke her heart and now he’s back to have her.

The story follows when Mack has decided to get Frankie back. We get to know their past through flashbacks and learn about everything they went through. The timing is not good because Frankie has a significant other now who is a great guy who takes good care of her, but as love can’t be denied, Mack knows he still has a chance to have the love of his life.

This book has all the things that I love in a novel. There’s hilarious moments that keep your heart light while reading.  But also there’s heartbreaking moments that will make it impossible to stop reading because you want to find out how they can possibly make it through. There’s twist and turns that will make you lose faith in them, but then a rewarding ending that will make your heart full of joy. All those moments combined made for a lovely story.

I have to mention that it has also amazing secondary characters. Lorelai (Frankie’s friend) and Jonah (Mack’s adorable son) and Mrs. Migillicutty that along with the MC make the perfect deal.

Yet again, another Penelope Ward novel I would highly recommend!
