The thrilling conclusion to Crown of Lies from New York Times Bestseller, Pepper Winters

Since my life changed for the second time and not necessarily for the better. Two years since I traded prison bars for streets and hunted a runaway who I'd met in an alley.

Since I forgot how to lie, woke to fists, and chased after the girl who'd been stolen from me.

To save her, rescue her, keep my lies intact. She looks at me full of hate. I look at her full of confession.

For our relationship to switch from mutual dislike to floundering with unknowns. I've hurt her. Now, she's hurt me. I guess we're even.

For her to listen, to see, to finally know who I am. The answer comes with hardship. The answer isn't what she wants to hear.

For me to walk out the door.

For it all to be over.

Book Review: 5 Stars

It’s not often that a duet has so many things in them that I love. Usually things are left unexplained or love is formed too fast. Usually the story is lacking in plot and conviction but not with Pepper Winters’ books. Damn. She did it again and I’m sure glad I was along for the ride.

Throne of Truth, the second book following Crown of Lies was sooo good. Really good. Honestly, I don’t know how Pepper does it, but she is a master at angst ridden romance. Penn and his delicious Elle are back and lemme tell ya, they are so fire together. Pepper has the ability to write the most enigmatic swoon worthy men and I fall for every one of them. Elle, isn’t her usual female MC though. She isn’t victimized –like so many of the others are– waiting for a man to fix whatever problem arises or save her. She takes charge of her life and I LOVE THAT about her.

I don’t need someone to claim me.  I claim me.

At the end of book one, we’re left with Elle in danger and Penn’s background in question. Elle is in a bad place and through some interesting plot work (snapps Pepper), we find out that there’s more than one person trying to take Penn down…for good.

Book two starts off with a bang and the punches keep on coming for poor Penn and Elle. I mean, I just want them to have their HEA!!  Because they are so hot together. I mean, blisteringly hot.

I’m going to take away all your control.  I’ll fuck you the way I want to fuck you. I’ll look after you while I ruin you. I’ll protect you while I hurt you—just like I promised that first night. I’ll take everything you have to give. We play rough. We love hard. We live every fucking fantasy.

But will they get a happily ever after? That’s what you’ll have to find out by reading this amazing duet. Seriously, if you’re a PW fan, then you need this story in your life.
