I shouldn’t have remembered him.
He was just a guy who walked through a restaurant. I didn't know his name. We never made eye contact. There was no connection between us at all.
But I could feel him.
The tingle down my spine. The command in his presence. The snap of tension in the air around him. That was the first time I saw him, and I was captivated.
The second time was different.
He was in the mysterious back elevator of my apartment building. Our eyes met for a fleeting second before the doors closed, and I was staggered. My breath was robbed. My senses on high alert. My body hummed.
That was just the beginning.
He was the leader of the mafia. I was about to fall in love with him, and his name…

Book Review: 5 +++ stars
I love mafia books and I blame Tijan’s novel, CARTER REED, for that. Ever since I read Carter’s story, I tend to one-click this genre because I love getting my alpha male / bad boy dose every now and again!!! But nothing seems to compare to Tijan’s novels, so I was SO excited to read COLE once I found out she was writing his story.
COLE surpassed my every expectation! I loved the book right from the first page. Right from the beginning it made me feel, ALL THE FEELS. This book has everything. It has love, loss, grief, angst, desire, seduction, suspense, passion, secrets, betrayal, a complete rollercoaster of emotions. It’s a very captivating mafia romance.
Addison Bowman is mourning the death of her husband (Liam) who died right in front of her eyes in a tragic accident. It’s been over a year since his death and she feels like a ghost. It’s been very hard for her to move on because she constantly feels like she’s betraying Liam for wanting to move on. But thank goodness she has this amazing friend, Sia, who is helping her to move on and keep living. Sia suggested to her (almost begged her) to move to one of the most exclusive apartment buildings that happens to have an opening.
Addison was accepted in the building and left the house where she lived with her husband and she started to feel alive again, the change of scenery was good for her. She never expected or anticipated moving on to another man. But she finds herself attracted to a new mystery man she meets in her building. This man makes her feel alive again. Makes her see her life in color again, instead of grays and blacks. There’s an undeniable attraction. “That man, whoever he was, he’d affected me in a way no other had—since Liam.” -Addison.
Cole Mauricio is the leader of the Mafia. He’s the last man of the Mauricio family. He was not supposed to have someone to love, that was a risk and dangerous in his kind of life, but what he feels for Addison or better said what Addison makes him feel, is something he can’t get away from. She makes him feel alive. She a breath of fresh air. Just looking at her smile makes him feel right, something he couldn’t have as a kid.
He will do all he can to protect her because he cares for her. But what he can’t do is stay away from her. He’s willing to do no matter what, to keep her safe.
This book kept my mind working. There was a lot of theories running on in my head, some of them very accurate, but most were not. Tijan always goes for the unexpected and their was most definitely unexpected. No matter the angst I felt or the tears I cried, the end was ALL worthy. I highly recommended this book! It can read as a standalone, but it would be better to read CARTER REED 1 & 2 before reading this book so you can enjoy it more.
