“I'm done hurting her. She's been hurt enough. It's time I set her free...”
Once upon a time, I wished to go home and forget.
Now, I’m strong and ready to fight.
Seduced and claimed, Elder no longer just demands my voice, he commands me to be a thief like him.
I refuse.
But he offers me things I shouldn’t want, favours I should run from.
In return for his protection, I’m ordered to steal enough pennies and dollars to buy back my freedom.
Only, we both aren’t prepared for how he changes me, evolves me.
It’s my turn to learn about him.
It’s his wish to teach me how to be normal.
Until something goes wrong.

Book Review: 5 Stars
Oh, my LORD! This SERIES… is so good. I mean, really good. When I started reading it, I wasn’t so sure. In fact, I thought that it seemed like several of Pepper’s others, but it is different. How, you ask? Well, I’ll tell you.
At the beginning of the series we are introduced to Pimlico. Pimlico is a silent (yes, I mean she doesn’t speak a word) sex slave to a horrible man who has repeatedly beaten and raped her beyond repair. And just by chance she encounters an associate of her captor’s Elder Prest.
Elder is a mysterious man that shows a kindness to Pim—one she hasn’t received from her captor or his friends since he bought her— and in turn her favor repays him in kind.
I’d suffered a complex recipe of fear and power. Fear because of my past. Power because of the way he looked at me.
Throughout the series, ( Pennies, Dollars, Hundreds…) Pim and Elder’s strange acquaintance turns into something else…Something urgent. Darker. Deeper. Lighter. Better. Sacred. Safe. Dangerous.
Oh man. It’s been awhile since a series has kept me guessing like this one has. Actually, I think it’s been since Winters’ Indebted Series that I’ve been ravenous for her books. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the Throne of Truth Series. LOVED. IT. But this series has something different. Something better.
Whatever was between us couldn’t be labelled but it had threaded us together, despite our uncommon introduction.
Without giving away anything from the story, I can tell you that Pim is a heroin unlike any other of Winters’ female MCs. She has the ability to seem weak and strong at the same time. She finds strength in Elder’s control and freedom. She strives to be more than what she’s been. To be a woman worthy of love. Worthy of a man who deems himself unworthy of everything.
Man this series is good. And honestly I can’t wait till the next one. Can. Not. Wait.
