Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania: population two thousand outside of tourist season.
And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed attempt at a relationship, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has saved: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling.
Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works.
For a time.
But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. What begins as an immediate friendship quickly turns into something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something that Catherine is afraid to trust.
Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine…before the spark fades?

Audiobook Review: 5 Million Stars
Addictive, beautiful, a perfect fairy tale!
What did you love best about this story?
Everything, absolutely everything!
⭐ The story: A single mom, whose dreams were crashed after making several mistakes when she was a teenager, saved the life of a famous hockey player in a tragic car accident.
What looked like a huge nightmare for Cath, she being on the spotlight for being the “good samaritan”, turned out to be the best fairy tale/love story for Cath and Brett
⭐ The Characters: Cath was strong, determined and very responsible. She was a great mother, very loving and amazing. But she was still vulnerable for what happened when she was 18 years old. She couldn’t open to have a relationship anymore, so she focused on her only good thing in her life: Her daughter. Until she saved Brett’s life.
Brett was funny, talented, strong and confident, not to mention his heart was pure gold. Unique. He only had one goal in his life: play hockey, and he was the best at it. One of the best things about him: He always knew what he wanted and went for it.
And the secondary characters were all amazing. Little Brenna, Lou, Cath’s family, Brett’s family. All of them were awesome.
⭐ The HEA: Amazing!! Beautiful!! The perfect kind of HEA that Cath and Brett deserve.
Which character was your favorite?
Brenna was the cutest little girl in the world!! She was smart and full of joy. I love how Cath raised her, she taught her that dreaming was important in life, she taught her how to be always optimistic even though their reality wasn’t always the best.
What about Shayna Thibodeaux’s performance did you like?
Shayna’s narration was flawless. The pronunciation, the pace, the inflexions and emotions were 100% accurate with the book. I’m so happy I decided to wait for the audiobook before reading this book, because the performance made it all better. My favorite part of the narration: All the emotions Shayna put into every character. There was a part when Cath was crying, she was having a hard time with all the media attention and I could feel all the hurt and anxiety she was feeling. It was an great narration, I could say this is my favorite from all the narrations I’ve listened by Shayna.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Until It Fades is not the kind of story full of angst—thank God—but there was some drama in it, that kept me stick to the audiobook until 3am. I wanted to know what was going to happen next and I was completely satisfied with the ending.
There were moments when I was tearing up, especially when Cath was having doubts about her deserving to have a romantic relationship, and there were moments when I was laughing with the cuteness of Brenna, Cath’s little girl.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. The story is beautiful, full of lessons for life, not only just a fiction novel, and one amazing HEA. 200% recommended.
