over and moved her hand away gently.
“I’ve brought refreshments for the
missus. And Master Bradley said that the young miss would need nourishment as
well. I hope you do not mind, Master Beau, but I thought you could serve her.”
Duncan handed Beau the glass. “Master, there is a matter of the alpha in the
kitchen. He would like to know…that is to say, he needs something
more…protective upon his body, if you please. He said to tell you that whatever
you have as long as it is not leather. He said that it chaffs his skin
terribly.”
Aaron laughed long and loud. Beau grinned.
Duncan looked confused. When Megan stood Beau pushed her back into the chair
and got up to fill a glass for her. He would have rather she drank from him,
but soon he told himself.
“Are all men in this family like
this?” Megan looked over at Sara and asked. “I mean so pushy that you want to
slug them on a minute-to-minute basis?”
“Yes. Yes, I’m afraid they are.
They think they mean well, but they only make matters worse.” Sara grinned at
Megan when she took the glass. “But they do come in handy on occasion. About
this man you killed. How sure are you that he wasn’t a vampire, Megan?”
Blushing brightly, Megan looked
over at him. Beau wasn’t sure what she was thinking, but was intrigued by the
pink in her cheeks. When she drained the glass and handed it to him he refilled
it without thought.
“He had a…he enjoyed…he enjoyed
himself when I bit him. I only just figured out that, you know, men enjoy it
when I take from them.” Her blush brightened and she smiled. Then Beau realized
what she was saying.
“You won’t be feeding from men
again, mon amour . That is something else I
need to…” A clearing throat from Sara had him stop and rethink his words. “Something
else that I would like to discuss with you.” Megan glared at him. Somehow, he
was sure that he was going to see that a great deal from her over their lives
together. He grinned at her and tried to charm her. He was a Frenchman and he
knew the art of seduction better than anyone. “Ah, my heart, you wound me with
your anger. We are to become mates soon and it would do us well to be friendly, vous ne pensez pas ?”
She
didn’t answer, but looked over at Aaron when he walked back into the room with
the alpha. “Why don’t you think I killed his son? Wouldn’t he know that it was
his kid? I would think I would.”
“He
said his child and that you belonged to him through the Vampire Council, the
law governing all vampires. The only way he could claim you is through you
killing one of his own. If, as you say, the only person you’ve killed is a
human, which by the way, I’m thoroughly impressed that it’s only one, then he
is mistaken.”
“Me
too,” Bradley said as he took a beer from Duncan. “I don’t know a lot of
newbies, but you are the most controlled one I’ve ever meet. Aren’t you guys
like on a feeding frenzy when you first are made?”
Before
he could think of the consequences Beau stood up and picked Megan up. He put
her onto his lap as he sat in the chair again. She squeaked and started to
struggle, but he simply pulled her to his neck and held her there. As soon as
her breath moved over his skin again, he felt his cock harden. She stopped
moving and looked up at him.
“Most
are. And you’re right, she does have control.” Aaron moved to the other chair
and sat. “Why is that, I wonder?”
Beau thought
Aaron was the definition of controlled. He knew the man could get pissed. Kyle
had told him that even when he did the man had a will of iron and a head for
strategy. “Do not move,” he whispered in her ear. “I want you right now, ma
douce . And we are neither in a place where I can show you how much. Listen
to the master and the sooner we get this finished, the sooner we can…talk.”
“Megan?
Did you hear me?” Beau looked at Aaron and knew that the man had heard him
because of the smile on his face. “I asked
