A Leap of Faith
has this town wired for anything! If you want an Elephant in your backyard she will not only deliver it but make sure all the dung is cleaned up after.”
I decided to take a gamble but gave her very strict guidelines.
She smiled as she nodded. “How did we do?”
“It’s perfect, exactly how I saw it in my head. You did a fantastic job” I was relieved my brief had been followed to the letter.
“Well there wasn’t a lot of room for interpretation,” Danielle laughed, “I’m not used to my clients being so specific, even down to what bows you wanted on the chairs. I basically just sourced all the materials and set it up.”
“Don’t take it personally, Lexi is a control freak.” Alex came up behind me, carefully taking the gift from my hands.
“Ummmm He- Hello Mr Stone,” Danielle bumbled, her head tilted back in a familiar fashion and a slight blush heating her checks.
Yes, take a good look. My boyfriend is ridiculously good looking. He seemed to have a similar affect on all women. They found him irresistible, his magnetic charm only adding to his appeal.
I breathed deeply as I watched her twirl her hair around her finger in a nervous tell. Giggling like a school girl when he extended his hand in greeting.
    “Please call me Alex.”
    “Hello Alex,” Danielle smouldered sultrily.
Oh Lord! Was no one immune? I didn’t blame her though, while I had held my shit together a lot better than she was, he had me off kilter from the moment I laid eyes on him. Truth be told, even now he had me constantly breathless.
“Well thanks again Danielle.” I broke her from her dreamy gaze, her eyes fixed on Alex’s ass as he walked to the gift table and placed the box while casually chatting to Troy.
“My pleasure, if there is anything I can do for you please let me know.” Danielle’s eyes darted from me back to Alex who was joking amicably with Troy.
Really? I rolled my eyes as she stood silently absorbing him. Well I’m fairly sure the list of things she could quite possible do for me did not include the man that I love but I gave her props for trying. At least she wasn’t as blatant as some of his fans.
“Lexi!” James strolled over to me and engulfed me in his usual hug.
He was freshly showered and dressed in a pair of black pants and matching black shirt. He look amazing, his mess of hair styled to perfection.
“Hey James.” I hugged him back.
“This is amazing,” he gestured to the room. “You have truly outdone yourself, you never cease to amaze me.”
“In the short time you’ve known me James, have you ever seen me half-ass anything?” I laughed.
“True. One in a million.” James smiled.
Hannah had finished “oohing” and “ahhing” over the cupcakes and had moved into the kitchen to take a call. She looked deliriously happy.
My eyes floated to the far side of the room where Danielle had now moved to and was offering Alex and Troy a drink, flirting discreetly with both of them.
“Just so you know, I have never seen Alex as in love with anyone as he is with you and I have known Alex since 8th grade. He’s had girlfriends but not the way he is with you .” James’ tone became more serious as he locked his gaze on me.
    “It’s fine James, I’m fine ,” I reassured him.
“Good, ‘cause you are part of this family now. I hope you know that.” James gave me his megawatt grin before encasing me in another quick hug.
“Everything ok here?” Alex asked curiously as leaned up against my back, threading his arms around my waist.
“Yep, just was telling Lexi what an outstanding job she did. Both Han and I are overwhelmed.” James explained.
Alex nodded in agreement, his eyes lit up as a cheeky grin spread across his lips. “How did we ever manage before Lexi?”
“I know sarcasm when I hear it, Stone.” I feigned annoyance as I shifted in his arms.
I felt Alex’s grip tighten around my waist as James gave him a pointed look.
“Play nice you two! Guests will
