stop him
and go back to kissing him, but he looked disturbed and turned his face away
from her.  She put her hand on his again to get him to stop and let things
progress, but he protested and pushed her away again.  She tried again to
redirect his attention to her but to no avail.  She jumped off of his lap and
moved to the other side of the seat.
    “What
the fuck, Maggie?!” he shouted in disbelief and confusion about what was going
on.   “I was almost there!  You can't leave me blue-balled now!  What the
fuck?!”

Chapter 8

    Serena
woke when she heard Hani's cell phone ring and was disturbed that it was barely
daylight and someone was calling.  It was a sound she had grown accustomed to
in the time since they met, and it seemed that the office could never leave him
alone, even after hours, so she pulled the duvet up to her ears and snuggled
back down into the pillow.  She pouted at first when she had asked if he could
turn his phone off in the evenings when they were together and he said no;
getting this company off the ground was his job and he couldn't shirk the
responsibility.
    Eventually
she admired his dedication and got used to the frequent interruptions.  It was
usually his assistant or his boss, confirming details of a meeting or
discussing some other business matters.  He didn't mind talking to her about
his work, but she was finally accepting the interruptions as just a normal part
of her new routine.  He wasn't secretive at all and left all of his paperwork
in plain sight, but she understood that he just wanted to keep business
separate from their time together as much as he could, so she respected his
space and didn't ask many questions.
    The
conversation was usually brief and in English when he spoke with anyone from
the home office, but this time Hani was speaking only in Arabic, and Serena
could tell there was a disagreement about something.  Although she had picked
up conversational phrases and slang from him and was learning to write the
Arabic alphabet, she could not converse but still strained to follow the conversation
as if she might understand what was being said.
    She
had never heard Hani raise his voice before now, so this phone call worried her.
He always had a calm and peaceful demeanor with her, but she figured it was
business and sometimes business doesn't go smoothly.  She dismissed it at that
and closed her eyes again.
    A
few minutes later, she felt the familiar feeling of him sitting on the far side
of the bed, and the bed sheets rustled, letting a brief draft underneath as he
crawled in behind her.  Soon she felt the warmth of his naked body pressed
against her and his arm wrapping protectively around her.  She had left the
comfort of her own apartment and now spent every night with him at the suite
and slept soundly in the haven of his bed with him beside her.
    “All
in a day's work, my dear...All in a day's work,” he whispered, kissing her
gently on the shoulder.  She snuggled against him as he held her tighter, and
she drifted off to sleep.
    The
alarm clock sounded an hour later, an unwelcome reminder that she was scheduled
to work while Hani had the day off.  He could easily support them both and
offered to do so, but Serena insisted on keeping some independence and didn't
want to be one of those girls who lives off of a sugar daddy, although word had
gotten around at work that she was dating an older man and she was sure that
the label was already stuck on her.
    The
fact that he was Arabian made everyone assume his family was in the oil
business or maybe he was a prince of some kind.  The jokes didn't bother her;
in fact she walked proudly with Hani when he came to pick her up after work,
knowing full well that the men envied him because he was fucking her now and
they were yesterday's news and didn't stand a chance with her.
    Serena
also endured the jealous stares and whispers of the girls at work who she knew
were salivating
