Button Placement
    Once the Newsboy Brim has been added to the hat, sew one button onto the 2nd dc rnd up from each corner of the Newsboy Brim.
    Button the interchangeable band onto the buttons using the 3 hdc holes on each side of band. Note: If the band is for the 0–3 month hat size, you may have to button the band through one of the end dc to make the band fit snugly.

    Sew a big, chunky wooden button on this hat or add an interchangeable motif to change the look for a boy or a girl. Add some color with stripes or make the hat without the brim for a simple, stylish beanie. (see the Stitches & Techniques section for information about color changes.)

Make an Interchangeable Band
    With I hook and yarn color of your choice, ch 22.
    Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch to end. (20 dc)
    Rnd 2: Do not turn; ch 2, work 3 hdc inside the ending dc sp, 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 18 sts, 2 hdc in next st, work 3 hdc inside the ending dc sp, 2 hdc in next dc, hdc in next 18 dc, then hdc in the ch-st between hdc just made and the beg ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch of beg ch-2. (50 hdc)
    Fasten off. Weave in ends.
