of the Soutx.”
Ryuu kicked off his boots. “You are more than a
warrior.”
Drakon swallowed and decided to trust the bond. “I am
Heritor Drakon, of the Soutx. My father forbade me to do this, but I was the
only one who could.”
Ryuu stared at him. “The heir to the
Soutx nation? The only enemy my father has not yet conquered?”
Drakon nodded, acutely aware of his nakedness. He
hadn’t mentioned his dragon form. Talking about that with anyone was nearly
impossible for him. There was no way to describe what it felt like to fly the
skies, skin to wind. No way for anyone to truly understand what it meant to
flame your enemies personally. Being a dragon was both a burden and a joy.
Surprisingly, Ryuu threw back his head and laughed.
“We are a pair of rebels, aren’t we?”
Drakon stared at his mate. Reluctantly, he smiled. “Perhaps.”
“And do you know of the Black Dragon of the Mists?”
Ryuu asked, stripping off his pants.
Drakon’s breath caught. “Everyone knows him.” It
wasn’t a lie. Not really.
Ryuu strode across the room and loomed over him. His
cock was half erect. “I named my rebel persona after him.”
Drakon gripped the silk covers as his heart pounded.
What had Ryuu just admitted? His hands shook. “You are the Desert Dragon?” he
asked, afraid to hope it was true.
Ryuu leaned over him, sliding his fingers into Drakon’s
hair. He gripped tight at the nape and Drakon’s cock went from semi-interested
to rock hard in a single breath. “I am.”
He stared at the prince, shocked. “Why are you telling
me this? It could mean your death.”
“Yes. That’s true, but it doesn’t matter.” Ryuu leaned
closer, touching his lips to Drakon’s ear. “We only have one month to live,
anyway.”

    Chapter Five

Drakon trembled in his hands. Ryuu bit back a groan
and kissed him, ravaging his mouth with all the pent-up anger and frustration
and desire that he had to keep so carefully controlled most of the time. “I
want you to fuck me, my slave prince. My princely slave.” He climbed onto the bed, forcing his lover down onto his back. “I want you to
claim me, so that when we die, we will have known something other than
slavery.”
“You will never be a slave in my eyes,” Drakon said
softly. “And I’m not a prince.”
“You are heir to your people.” Ryuu smiled. “I knew
you were more than you seemed. I felt it in here, where the fire of instinct
keeps me strong.” He put a fist to his chest.
“Your delusion doesn’t make me a prince.”
“Such kindness and modesty.” Ryuu kissed him again. “Do as I say, my slave
prince,” he told Drakon, fully appreciating the irony of his demand. “Am I not
your master?”
Drakon rolled over him until his weight pressed Ryuu
into the mattress. “Why do you say we only have a month left to live?” His hair
slid down around them, cocooning them in its sweet embrace.
Ryuu frowned. “Because that’s how long my father gave
me to begin screwing the poor women he will no doubt lock in here with me. He
wants blood. Nothing less satisfies him.” He stroked a hand down Drakon’s hair.
“We both have only a month left, and then it is all over between us because I
will not do my father’s bidding. And he will surely kill us for that defiance.”
Drakon kissed him, so gently that Ryuu had to close
his eyes. “So fatalistic.”
“Is there any other way to live?” Ryuu asked.
Drakon pressed his hips down, grinding their cocks
together. “We can escape.”
“You’re a dreamer.” Ryuu laughed and shook his head.
“There’s no escape.”
Drakon slid a hand under his ass and shoved him up the
bed. “Perhaps I am a dreamer.” He bit
at Ryuu’s neck, mouthing over the same spot until he cried out.
“Enough! My only dream right now is to feel something
other than despair,” Ryuu told him, opening his legs and wrapping them around
Drakon’s thighs. The feel of his skin both soothed and enflamed him.
