the window that separated us from the city below.
He tasted like mint, and he smelled like a dream. His hands gripped the flesh of my hips and pulled them into him, our clothes separating our most intimate parts. As his mouth left mine, he trailed soft kisses down my neck and then worked his way to my collarbone, stopping just above my heaving breasts.
Sawyer scooped me up, and I wrapped my legs around his hips. With his face buried in my cleavage, he carried me down a hallway to a dark bedroom, where he gently laid me in the center of an enormous bed.
The room was dark. I couldn’t see to save my life. I could only feel his movements as he crawled onto the bed, and I could only smell his clean musk as his body brushed against mine. My fingers searched his body in the darkness until I found his face, and my lips found his. I wanted to taste him again. I couldn’t get enough. I was beginning to crave him, this stranger who’d shown me more intimacy in the first 24 hours of knowing me than I’d shown my ex-boyfriend in months.
Sometimes it was more intimate not to speak. We were two intimate souls who barely knew a thing about each other, giving ourselves away for a few days in order to escape our pasts. Did he have a past? He had to. He had to be escaping something just like me or why else would he want to lose himself in me, in this cocoon of passion, for four days?
The bed shifted, and the gentle rum of a wooden side table drawer being pulled and closed directed my attention to the space behind me.
“What are you doing?” I asked, breathless.
Sawyer’s arms hooked under mine as he pulled me toward the head of the bed, adjusting a pillow beneath me. He said nothing as he wrapped my wrists in soft silk straps, which felt like ties, and then secured them to the posts of his bed.
“Maisie,” he whispered into my ear. “Are you prepared to give yourself to me?”
    I nodded.
“Do you trust me?” he asked.
I nodded again. “Yes, but now you’re making me nervous, Sawyer. I really need to know what you’re doing here.”
“Sh.” He silenced my words with a hungry kiss. “Don’t speak. Feel. I want you to feel everything. Be present with me. Be here.”
A silk scarf wrapped around my mouth. I’d never been tied up or gagged before, and in any other context it would’ve been slightly unnerving, but Sawyer made it sexy and adventurous. He was so strong and take-charge, yet so gentle with me at the same time. An anomaly.
I loved every second of it.
His fingertips trailed down my chest, stopping to unbutton my blouse and to unhook my bra. His hands worked at the button of my jeans until he slid them off me once again, throwing them aside.
Clinking of metal hinted that he was working on his belt, and within seconds, he was completely naked, lying over top of me. His weight over mine grounded me in a way. Calmed me. Told me he wasn’t going anywhere. In the dark, stillness of the room, it was just me and him. No thoughts. No bullshit. No outside world.
His mouth took my nipple, and his tongue swirled and sucked, bringing it taut with his teeth before letting it go. His hands traveled the length of my side, taking a detour at my hips and finding my mound. He slipped a finger inside me, curling it up against my g-spot as his lips pressed into the flesh of my neck. His generous cock began to harden against my thigh, sending a rush of electricity from that part of my body up through my stomach as I tried to imagine how it would feel pressing inside of me.
“You’re intoxicating, Maisie,” he whispered. “I’m drawn to you, and I have absolutely no control over any of it and that drives me wild.”
My heart raced as he pulled his finger from me and leaned across me, grabbing a foil packet from his side table drawer. I heard him tear it, and felt the bed shift as he sheathed his cock.
I wanted to ask him just how big he was, if it was going to hurt, if he slept with many women, or if he habitually
