needed something from her that she
could give him. Acceptance and sexual release.
Reaching out, she placed her hand over his heart. The muscles of his chest tightened
beneath her touch. He did not look at her, but kept his shuttered gaze on the ceiling.
Sitting up, she curled her legs beneath her bottom, and then came up on her knees next
to him. She slipped her fingers through his long, black silky hair, tugging on it until he
lowered his face to hers. His eyes were dark and fathomless now as he watched her. He
was totally still now, like an animal waiting to pounce on its prey.
Delight swallowed hard. Her life had changed tonight. She had almost died. If that
had happened she never would have had the chance to explore this attraction to Lucian.
She wasn't sure where it was going or where it would lead, but she did know that she
would regret it to her dying day if she didn't take a chance and explore it. For better or
for worse, she was a different person now and there was no going back to her safe,
predictable life.
Gathering all her courage, she looked him straight in the eye. Taking a deep breath,
she spoke the words that would change the course of her life. "I want to stay."

Chapter Seven

Lucian stared at Delight, hardly able to believe her words. He had been so certain
she would run from him, and not all that sure if he would have let her. Like a wild beast
that had scented his mate, all his instincts were beating at him to take her and bind her
to him.
He had already taken her blood. The rich, heady taste still tingled on his tongue.
Never in his life had he tasted anything as sweet and satisfying as Delight's blood. It
made him feel like a god among immortals. He felt alive and powerful as never before.
He had been unable to keep from sharing some of his blood with her. It was not
enough to convert her, but it was more than enough to strengthen the mental and
physical bonds that they already shared. He could lie and tell himself he only did it
because he knew that his blood would help heal her aches and bruises. But in truth, it
was because he couldn't resist the opportunity to tie Delight to him with every means at
his disposal.
Lucian wanted to be fair to Delight . But he was finding that his primal instincts
were much more powerful than the trappings of civility. Looking down at her with her
short tousled hair and her pale blue eyes shimmering with desire, Lucian knew he'd
never seen a woman look as beautiful as she did at that moment. Her face was lovely,
with its heart-shape, high cheekbones and tip-tilted nose. And she was offering herself
to him.
It took all his strength not to toss her facedown on the bed and devour her, his body
craved her so badly. His hands, which were always rock-steady, now shook with a lust
so strong he knew he would stop at nothing to have her. Extending his hand, he cupped
one of her lovely, pale breasts. Using his thumb, he stroked around the edges of her
turgid nipple.
Delight closed her eyes and tilted her head back, a soft cry escaped her parted lips.
Her neck was totally exposed to him as she sat there with her legs slightly spread,
panting with desire.
Unable to resist, he sifted his fingers through the soft nest of curls between her legs,
letting them stroke her wet flesh and her swollen clit. She sucked in her breath when his
finger stroked the small bundle of nerves, her hips rocking towards him.
Lucian could feel the light sheen of sweat covering his body. Every muscle was
clenched in anticipation of what was to come. His fangs were extended and aching to
sink into her sweet flesh and taste her blood.
The time had come.
His voice was harsh and she flinched slightly when he spoke, her eyes coming to
rest upon his face. "Turn around and kneel up on your hands and your knees." She
licked her lips, looking uncertain. "I want to fuck you from behind, and I want you to
offer yourself to me." He removed his hands from her body. "Do it."
Lucian was a man at war with himself. Every
