den. That is how it’s always been. Whoever is pack leader, lives in that den.”
“Bruno. I don’t care. Her loss is great. I felt it. It tore through me. I won’t take her home along with her mate, and her rank. We can stay here until we build a new home.”
She was determined about this. He smelled it on her, and saw it in the hard gaze she gave him. He nodded, approving. Her heart was big enough to care for an entire pack. And still she had enough to love him too. They would honor the older bitch who’d always been kind to him when the rest of the pack watched him warily. Juanita would know a peaceful existence with her widowed rank. He smiled, seeing how strong his new mate was.
“You will be the greatest queen bitch the werewolves of Malta have ever known.”
She didn’t say anything but turned again, her nervousness quickly replacing her determination now that the matter was settled. She walked the length of his large one-room studio to the opened windows that looked over the quiet downtown. Living over one of the shops had been convenient since he’d moved into his own den. For now, it would work for the two of them, although there wasn’t a lot of space for her to make the den her own. He’d worry about her need to decorate later. Right now, he needed her.
Her mind spun with many emotions. He latched on to her more primal ones, sought them out, wrapped his own lustful thoughts around hers.

She grabbed the end of his bedpost when she sensed him in her mind.
“You are mine, Renee.”
“I know.” She faced him slowly, her breaths slow and deep. He watched her small breasts stretch the material of her dress. “And you, Bruno, are mine. Our hearts are one now. We’ll run together for life.”
Werewolves didn’t have marriages like humans did. Many had argued over the years that such a ceremony should take place. Werewolves were stuck in their ways though, and change happened slowly.
Bruno saw no reason to have such a lavish party to announce a mating. Right now was the time that mattered, where they would get to know each other, learn every inch of each other’s bodies, and explore each other’s minds and hearts.
“Your clothes are here?”
She nodded. “My parents had them dropped off earlier.” She pointed to two boxes he hadn’t noticed in the corner by the door. “I have furniture too,” she offered.
“We’ll get all of it,” he told her, knowing her possessions mattered to her.
All that mattered to him was her. He grabbed her dress below her shoulders and pulled hard enough that the fabric tore. It ripped down her body, separating as he tugged it into two pieces. Her beautiful dark skin glowed underneath the fabric.
“Oh shit,” she cried out, falling toward him as he ripped the dress clean off her.
She fell into him when he continued pulling until she stood before him in panties. There wasn’t a more beautiful sight on the entire island of Malta.
He pulled her hair from her face, grabbing all of it until he held it ponytail-style at the back of her neck. Tugging slightly, her head fall back, her chest rising and falling quickly while she gasped for breath. Her breasts were full, round, small yet so perfect. And her nipples, puckered and hard, pointed toward him until his mouth watered.
“Our minds are powerful, Renee. I will show you what they can do. Did you see how quickly I defeated our old pack leader?”
She nodded, licking her lips.
He hadn’t mastered everything, but focusing on his thoughts, stilling his craving for her, he thought about her body—its size, its shape, its gentle curves.
“God. Oh damn.” She struggled to grab a hold of him when her feet floated off the ground.
Bruno held her in his mind until he’d moved her over his bed. Then he released her, watching as she fell onto her back.
