as she bent her knees in frustration. “You’re going to spank me anyway. Can we just get it over with?”
“No. That’s not how we do things. This is more than getting your bottom spanked. Punishment is learning from what you did, knowing what you did wrong, how to avoid it again, and what a grown up would do in your situation. Now, sit.”
    His Sassy.
With a dramatic sigh, she sat down like a disgruntled teen.
“How long did you have the requirements for this paper, Sassy?” He turned sideways on the couch, leaning his bent right leg against the back of the sofa.
“You know how long. Dr. Parks said in his email.” Her eyebrows furrowed as she said it.
Reaching out, he slapped the top of each thigh — hard. “Bad girl. Again, that’s not the point. Answer the question — and you’d better fix that sassy mouth, or I’m filling it with a bar of soap. Is that what you want?”
“I hate when you say that.” Her bottom lip protruded, and even though it looked adorable, she’d pushed him too far.
He started to stand up, and she frantically pulled at his arm and shirt. “Nooooo. I’ll talk, I’ll talk.”
“I’m not playing with you tonight, Sassy.” He gripped her face in his hand. “You answer questions the first time and contain that mouth. Continue.”
“Dr. Parks gave the assignment a month ago.” She swiped at tears that threatened to fall from her eyes.
His little girl hated getting her mouth soaped. She hated it enough that he didn’t pull that punishment out too often unless she’d deserved it. “So, what did you do in that month’s time to prepare for the paper?”
Her gaze fell to her hands, her teeth chewing on her bottom lip. “Nothing.” She had whispered it so low, he barely heard it.
He tilted her head up with his finger. “You see now that it wasn’t the right thing to do, but you knew it at the time too, didn’t you?”
    “Yes, Daddy.”
“We’ve worked so hard this semester, and this bad grade will drop your semester average. It’s just so disappointing, Brittney Leigh.”
“I know. But I met with Dr. Parks this afternoon, and he said that I can do some extra credit next week to help bring my grade up.”
He smiled broadly at her. She’d surprised him. He thought he’d have to force her to get the extra credit assignment. All their work was paying off. She had matured almost before his eyes. He threw his arms around her, burying her in a bear hug. “I’m so proud of you, Sassy. You did it on your own. Do you see how you’ve changed?”
She shrugged, her cheeks flushing. “I guess.”
“No guessing about it. You’re such a good girl.” He stroked the back of his knuckles down the side of her face. “But, we still have to deal with the matter of the bad grade, and your purposeful laziness.”
“Yes.” She slowly lifted her gaze to meet his. “Does it help, Daddy, if I say that I’m sorry, and promise I won’t do it again?”
“Sweetheart, it always helps. Daddy always wants to hear that you’re a repentant girl who wants to do better. But, it doesn’t stop the consequences, as you know.”
She nodded, tears tracking silently down her cheeks.
    “It’s time, little girl. Stand.”
She wiped her now sweaty palms on her pajama bottoms, running them over her thighs before she stood, wringing her hands in the front of her top.
    “Take your pajama pants off.”
She undid the blue ribbon at her waist, the lightweight flannel fluttering to the floor. She stepped out of each leg, then tossed the pants onto the couch.
“Hands on your head.” He stood up from the sofa, circling her slowly, gliding his forefinger along her right hip bone, skimming along the goose-bumped flesh on her buttocks. He pinched each cheek hard enough that she hissed through her teeth, but she maintained her position. “Good girl.”
He continued, his finger climbing higher, drifting along her waist, her body shivering. “Oooo, that’s nice. Feeling aroused,
