His Taste of Temptation: In the Line of Duty, Book 3
barely able to think let alone answer. She’d thought she was dreaming, thought she was simply having another one of her Brad fantasies, but from the wetness between her legs to the soreness of her muscles she knew it hadn’t been a dream at all.
She’d had sex with Brad. Hard, hot, fast sex.
“Fuck,” Brad groaned. “I’m sorry. Jesus Christ, I’m sorry, Madison. I thought…” he stopped talking while he pulled the sheet over his early morning erection, then started again with, “And I didn’t even use a condom. Shit, I always use a condom.”
Coming to his rescue she said, “It’s okay, I’m on the pill and I’m clean.”
“I’m clean too.” He scrubbed his hand over his face, his brow knitted together in deep concern.
“And I get that you thought I was someone else.”
His head jerked up, a confused look came over his face. “What? No. That’s not what I meant.”
She started to inch away, keeping the sheets tight against her. “I’d better go.”
“Madison, wait. I didn’t think you were someone else. Why would you say that?”
“Brad, this never should have happened.”
“I know. It’s my fault. I went to get a drink and forgot you were in here.” Looking disgruntled and completely troubled he said, “I should have listened when you said those drugs knocked you out. I took two and chugged a beer.” He shrugged and she could tell he was trying to lighten her mood when he said, “At least our colds seem to be better.”
She picked at an invisible piece of lint, her hands shaking slightly, and when she went quiet, he scrubbed his chin, all humor gone from his face. “I’m sorry. It shouldn’t have happened. It was a mistake.”
“Yeah, it was a mistake,” she whispered, her throat tightening as she mentally kicked herself. Brad didn’t want her and in his drug-induced state probably thought he was crawling between the sheets with one of his perfectly-put-together brazen women.
But oh how I acted so brazen last night .
Her hair spilled forward and her stomach tightened with apprehension. She trembled despite the warmth of the body next to her.
    “Are you okay?”
    “No, I’m not okay.”
Brad exhaled slowly, and raked his hands through his hair, mussing it even more. “Shit. We have to tell Jonah.”
Madison’s head came back with a start. “Tell Jonah? Why would we tell Jonah?”
His muscles flexed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. “Because he’s my brother and I’m not going to keep something like this from him. I never thought you’d want to either.”
    “Brad?”
    “Yeah.”
    “Pull the sheet up.”
He dipped his head and she tried not to follow his gaze, tried not to stare at his growing erection, or the delicious way it was climbing out from beneath the sheet like it was ready for round two.
“Oh right.” He pulled the sheet to his waist but she wished he’d cover himself to his neck. The sight of his naked chest, and hard abdominal muscles were making her mouth water.
“Okay, so what’s the game plan then?” he asked when he had himself somewhat decent.
    “Game plan?”
“How are we going to tell Jonah?”
Feeling antsy and frustrated she wrung the sheets between her hands. “I told you. Jonah never has to know what happened.”
“Jesus, Madison. We owe it to him.” His brow furrowed. “After all…you two are…”
    “We’re what?”
    “Living together.”
    “So?”
“So…I think if you two are a couple then it’s only right that you should tell him. If you don’t want to do it I will. I’ll just explain it was an accident, that I stumbled in here by mistake, and because I was so whacked out on cough medication, I thought I was dreaming when I…when we…you know… That way he’ll be pissed at me and not you.”
“Brad, you’re not making any sense. Why would Jonah care what we did?”
He threw his hands up in the air like he was exasperated, and his sheet slipped a bit. “Because he’s your boyfriend,
