and the dos and don’ts, etc.”
“Sure.” Josh reached out one more time, and Charlie scratched Dottie’s neck fondly as the sweet-natured horse nudged Josh’s fingers. “I’m trusting you to be gentle with me, Dottie.” He grinned at the harrumph Dottie gave, and Charlie laughed again at the face Josh pulled when he was hit full in the face with Dottie’s less-than-fresh apple breath. “Okay, Mr. Cooper, lead on.”
As Charlie lifted his hand to cup Josh’s elbow, he felt a heavy nudge against his shoulder from Dottie, sending him stumbling into Josh. “Sorry,” he muttered, staring at his hands where they rested on Josh’s extremely muscled chest, the tips of his fingers touching the honey-toned skin that could be seen above the V-neck of the shirt Josh wore. It was unbelievably soft, and warmth radiated from Josh in waves. “Dottie….” He trailed off as he felt Josh’s big hands move around his waist when Dottie nudged him again. This close, he could see the gold flecks in Josh’s eyes as they stared down at him, and all he had to do was lean up a little and he could press his lips against that wide mouth.
“I guess everyone’s a matchmaker around here,” Josh mumbled, one of his hands moving from Charlie’s waist and trailing up Charlie’s arm until he met the line of Charlie’s jaw with his fingertips. Charlie swallowed a moan at the tentative stroking of Josh’s fingers and a tremor ran through him when Josh’s fingers drifted to his mouth, just as they had the night before. “Your momma’s wrong about one thing, though,” Josh said softly, bending his head with purpose. “You’re not pretty.”
“No?” Charlie couldn’t help the gasp that fell from his lips. He should be pulling away. This was completely unprofessional. Josh was a client. Why wasn’t he pulling away?
“No,” Josh replied, his tongue snaking out to moisten his lips. “You’re beautiful.” Josh’s eyes fluttered and closed and with a precision that had Charlie moaning aloud, Josh kissed him.
It had been a long time since Charlie had felt anyone this close to him, felt lips moving across his and a hard, muscled body pressed against the length of his own. The kiss was unlike anything he had ever experienced before. He felt it everywhere. Josh’s lips were warm against his, igniting his nerve endings in a sensory overload. Charlie was drowning in a sea of sensation and it made his head spin. Moving his hand up Josh’s jaw and around the back of his neck, Charlie parted his lips on a whimper at the nervous flick of Josh’s tongue.
Charlie buried his fingers in thick, soft, chestnut hair and tilted Josh’s head while he ravaged the big man’s mouth. It had been so long since he’d kissed or been kissed by anyone that he could hardly catch his breath. Josh’s scent filled his nostrils, wrapped him up in the musky, spicy smell of Josh’s cologne and the man beneath it. The slide of Josh’s tongue against his was intoxicating. He wanted more of it, wanted more of the man shuddering against him. He sucked on Josh’s lower lip, nibbling it with his teeth and then soothing it with his tongue, and he felt his stomach flip at the moan that came from Josh, feeling it vibrate against his lips. Charlie gave a moan of his own when he felt Josh’s hands slide down his back and curl around his ass, hauling Charlie against him.
When Charlie felt Josh’s hardness, it was like a bucket of cold water had been thrown over him. What the hell was he doing? Anyone could walk in! He couldn’t do this. Wouldn’t do this. Pulling back and releasing Josh abruptly, as if the man burned his flesh, Charlie backed up a few steps, lifted his hand and put it in the middle of Josh’s chest, stilling him when the man made to close the gap.
“Charlie?” Josh said quietly, his breath falling from his lips in harsh gasps.
Looking up, Charlie saw the confusion in Josh’s eyes, and he squared his shoulders. “I’m sorry,
