down.”

He pushed, and felt a resistance.  He pushed harder, and felt her cry of pain.  He pushed once again and was through the membrane.  He began to move in and out of her body, trying to be gentle.  Her hips were moving, taking him deeper with each movement.  His passion grew and he began to move faster. Faster. Faster, then he began pulsing, emptying himself inside her.  When he was finished, he relaxed against her, keeping most of his weight on his arms and knees.

“No, Patrick.  I want to feel your body on me.”

He lowered himself until he was fully upon her, his member still inside.  After a few minutes in this position, he felt a stirring as he began to grow.  Her hips moved against him.  He continued to grow, and she continued to move.  Caught up in the passion, they moved faster and faster.  He She trembled as she was overtaken, then he began to pulse once more.  Together they rode the wave until it waned.

Breathless, she exclaimed, “Wow!  I didn’t know you could reach such heights.  He rolled on his back, pulling her partway on top of him.  One breast resting on his, the other in his hand, as he slowly massaged it.  “That feels good.  I’m going to like being married to you.”

“I’m glad, because I already like being married to you,” he said.  “I hope I didn’t hurt you too much.  I tried to be careful.”

“It hurt a little at first, but then hardly hurt at all.  This was my first time, but I guess you knew that,” she said.

“It was my first time too.  Since I’m a farmer, I know about it, but it was my first time to experience it.  I agree with you.  It was good.”

Chapter 1 2:  Getting Ready To Travel
The train depot was a bustle of activity when Katerina and Patrick went to make the reservations for their trip to Oregon.  The reservations were made for the Thursday morning 9:00AM train to Chicago, where they would change to the train that would carry them the rest of the way.

Wednesday, Katerina began packing her things into a piece of leather luggage her father had made that remained unsold.  He burned her initials into the leather.  The packing was finished prior to the evening meal.

Mrs. Hauser prepared meal in the German manner, the hot meal as lunch and for the evening meal.  Dark bread was passed around.   Patrick watched Katerina and followed her lead.  He selected a piece of bread and spread butter over it, and added the liverwurst.  He cut off slices of cheese and sausage and lay them on top to cover.  He spread mustard across it and ate the open-faced sandwich with a knife and fork.  He also added pickles and relish.  “This is good,” he exclaimed.  “I’ve never eaten this way before.”

Mrs. Hauser beamed at the praise of her food.  “Danke,” she said.  Katerina explained danke meant thank you.

After dinner, Katerina and Patrick went for a walk.  Hand in hand, they strolled the streets of the German section of  Columbus, pausing to look in the windows.  “Do you feel sad that you’re leaving your home tomorrow, and may never return?” he asked.

“I’m sad to be leaving Mama and Papa,” she answered.  “I will especially miss Papa.  He was a good friend as well as a good Papa.  I could always talk to him about any problem.  He would listen and usually had sound advice for me.  I have never been able to talk to Mama the way I can with Papa.  He says it is because of the rough life she had before coming to America,”

“I’m that way with my Mama.  I always talk to her first, and she will tell me her feelings about the subject.  When I found out how much this trip would cost and then wrote the terrible letter, she gave me a stern lecture about spoken and unspoken communications.  She asked me to think about the possibility that you and I might not be suited for each other, but then she asked how I would feel if you were the love of my life
