because I want you so much. I remember seeing you at the fundraiser. The minute I looked at you I—”
He covered her mouth with his hand. “Easy, Sugar.” He hadn’t used the name since the bar, since learning her real name. But it had the desired effect of stopping her words and making her smile. “I know you want me.” He did. He could read it all over her. He could feel it just looking at her. This wasn’t nerves, this was excitement. Intense excitement. Too intense.
“Breathe,” he told her, moving his hand from her mouth.
    She did.
“I like NASCAR,” he said, still holding her wrist.
She looked at him, clearly confused, but he needed her to slow down, to relax, to enjoy this.
“I mean I really like it. So one year my dad arranged for me to drive with one of the drivers in his car around the track. They do it all the time for fans, to give you a taste of what it’s like.” He rubbed his thumb back and forth over the pulse point on her wrist that was still beating too fast. But she was listening to him, staring into his eyes.
They were standing only centimeters apart and he wanted her to get used to that, to being close to him, and he wanted it to be easy. Yes, they’d already been together, but it had been intense too. It had been fast and spontaneous. She hadn’t had time to think, hadn’t had time to get nervous. Hell, they hadn’t even taken their clothes off. Yes, their chemistry was surprisingly hot, but a woman like Morgan didn’t just lose her mind every time she got stirred up. Now she’d had more time to think everything through. This time it was going to be slow and deliberate. This time he was serious about seeing and tasting everything.
He was overwhelming her, and as much as his ego enjoyed the knowledge, he didn’t want her to freak out.
“I remember being so excited about the ride,” he went on about his trip to Daytona International Speedway. “I was all riled up, ready to go, couldn’t wait. The first trip around was awesome. I was sure it would only get better, so I thought I was ready for him to punch the accelerator. The adrenaline rush was intense.” Her heart was still thumping against his finger. “You know what I did?”
    She slowly shook her head.
“I closed my eyes. And missed the whole thing.”
Dooley watched Morgan process what he’d said.
“You want me to calm down,” she finally said.
“Yeah.” He smiled. “I don’t want you to miss anything.”
She looked embarrassed and irritated at the same time. “I don’t know what’s going on, but I promise you I’m fine. Let’s just…do this.”
    “This?”
“Sex. Let’s have sex. Lots of it.”
    “Okay. Come here.”
She did, her breathing increasing even with the few steps it took. He smiled and shook his head, then lifted a hand and pressed his first two fingers against the pulse point in her neck.
    “Your heart is racing.”
“I know,” she put her hand over her heart. “This is crazy. I never react like this. I’m cool under pressure. I’m never like this with men. I just… There’s something about you… I mean, I’ve never had sex in an elevator before either. Every time I get close to you I just—”
He put his hand over her mouth again, stopping the babbling. “I have an idea. We need to take the edge off,” he said firmly before dropping his hand. “And I need to wear you down some. If you’re this energetic in bed you might kill me.”

Morgan put a hand against her forehead. What the hell was going on?
As she’d told Maddie, Doug had the strongest effect on her she’d ever felt…ever. She’d looked at him and wanted him. Looking at him now, she wanted him.
At the fundraiser it hadn’t been a risk. She didn’t know him. They hadn’t spent any real time talking, at least not about anything important. They’d flirted. They’d talked dirty. But they hadn’t talked and they’d known there was no future. Now though, just standing in a bedroom with
