to come and leave your home, your family?” How did you choose to leave your family and travel so far away to find a woman from another world?
Setting down his fork he reached out to grasp her hand lightly with his. “To have the chance to meet someone of another world, to have a chance to meet my Niflet, to have a chance to have a child; how could I not?” The passion in his softly spoken voice caught her attention more than what he was saying.
“Niflet?” she absently stroked his hand with her thumb. What a strange word.
He paused and frowned trying to find another word to describe his thought. “How do you say; the other half of me?”
“Your soul mate.” Katlyn pulled back and begin to finish her meal. “There are some that do not believe in that.”
Micah stopped eating and looked at her intently; “Do you?”
“To think that there is only one person for each of us? That I will find that type of connection with only one person that has been pre-selected for me by only God knows who? I don’t know. It seems like it is an awfully big stretch. What if this person is on the other side of the state? The other side of the world? How would I possibly find him?” She shook her head absently at the thought. “It seems like that is an awfully big stretch of imagination.”
Katlyn looked over at Micah and caught his assessing look. He then smiled and chuckled, “What if he is on another planet?”
She let out a surprised laugh, “I guess that that’s a possibility I had not considered. Is that your way of saying that God will find a way?” As she moved past him he reached out and pulled her into his lap.
“I guess it is.” Micah carefully pushed her long hair back from her face and smiled at her. A little disconcerted she pulled back from him.
“Come on; let’s get out of here for a bit.” Katlyn pulled herself up and thought of were they could go.
“Ill just run to my room and change. There is a river not far from here; we can go for a swim.” Looking over at him she paused. Lord, he was a beautiful specimen of a man. No matter where he came from.
Moving quickly she ran up to her room, threw on her bathing suit and grabbed a couple of towels.
“How about if we make some sandwiches to take with us? We can have a picnic.” Katlyn called through his door as she moved down the stairs toward the kitchen.
“If you would like.” she jumped a foot in the air to hear him right behind her. “Jeeze! I didn’t hear you.”
“I am sorry. I did not mean to sneak up on you.” Micah smiled and moved to lean against the kitchen counter.
Katlyn smiled as she removed items from the fridge, “Its okay, you are just so quiet! It’s going to take some getting used to.” Quickly she made a handful of sandwiches, threw in some chips, cookies, and grabbed some bottled water. “Okay, looks like we’re ready.”
“Where are you planning on taking me?” Micah asked as he followed her out the door. “Here, let me get that.” He took the bag from her and tossed it over his shoulder. Stopping he looked up at the sky; it was a beautiful day out. There was hardly a cloud in the sky, bright and warm with the sun shining down.
“We are going for a nice long walk in the woods then for a dip in the water.” Katlyn smiled at him and wondered what he would think of the waterfalls behind the house. They held a quiet, peaceful beauty that very few people knew about. “I have a surprise for you to see.”
                  They walked in silence
