well. I am trying my best to keep him out of my mind, but when I sleep it is not something that I can control. I do not want you to be upset with me for having these thoughts, but I am not sure what else to do.”
“Pet, I have an idea about how to help you deal with your feelings and also how to help with your communication skills as well. Tonight we will have a scene when the girls go to bed and after you have finished your talk with Abraham. We will see how your communication skills improve afterward. Yes?”
Hearing Abraham pulling up again, I lean in and kiss Markus with all the passion I feel for him. Breathlessly I pull back whispering, “Thank you for being so understanding and helping me to become a better Pet and old lady, as well as helping me to work on my communication, Master. I do love you.”
Releasing me from his grasp, I join Rose and Hilda in running over to the truck to help get Iris out of it, while Abraham gets the groceries out. Markus slowly wanders over to help unload what was only supposed to be a few things.
Questioning, I look towards Abraham who answers before I even ask, “She would not stop putting stuff in the cart. I tried to put it back and then she threw a massive fit.So we negotiated that she could have a few things.”
Looking over to the bags I see enough junk food to last a frat house for a long weekend party. “Jeeze, Abraham you have to tell her no. She is only going to get worse if you give into her when she does that stuff.” Shaking my head, I look down at Iris who is grinning from ear to ear.
“Iris, you know better than that. You will not be able to go anywhere with Abraham if I can’t trust you to be a good girl and do what you are supposed to do at the store. Do you understand me? Now apologize to Abraham.”
“Yes, momma. Sorry for getting you in trouble, Abraham.”
I place her down on the ground, and with a gentle rap on her butt, she runs off to join her sister playing with Hilda.
As I walk into the house I unpack the groceries and start to get the food ready to be put on the grill. Carrying it back outside, I am happy seeing Markus and Abraham standing by the grill waiting for the food and watching the girls play with the dog. When I reach the grill, the two men quit talking quickly and look at me with wide smiles on their faces.
“Here is the food guys, the brats have been broiled, potatoes are all sliced up, and the corn has been shucked and seasoned as well. I think the potatoes will take the longest to cook, but I will leave you to it. I’ll be in the house getting dessert ready if you need me, okay?”
“Yes, Sweetling, why don’t you let Abraham come with you. You can finish up that talk while you get the dessert ready. I will make sure that the girls stay out here.”
As I turn to walk back to the house I feel Abraham fall in behind me. As we enter the house I head towards the kitchen and start getting out the ingredients that I will need to make strawberry shortcake.
“Do you need help with something Pearl? I am not that bad in the kitchen if you remember correctly.”
“I do remember, and sure, you can slice up the strawberries please.”
Handing him a knife and a bowl, I walk over and start to mix up the shortcakes. “Abraham, what else do we need to talk about? I thought we finished the discussion this morning.”
“I would like to hear from you what happened the night I left and also what has happened since that point. I know that it is probably hard for you to talk about these things, but nobody else will talk about it and I need to know.”
I roll my neck, thinking back to that night again. I start the story that has now etched itself on my memory. How I had bumped into Layla on my way to the restroom when I first got to the party. How I walked in on the two of them kissing when I returned.
Markus telling me that Layla had spiked my drink with something that they later found out from my blood test on a sample they had taken
